1992 Dec. 20 (revised) SSOC TOBAN REPORT, WEEK 51 Hudson, Miyazaki, Sawa 1. Background. Activity at Sagamihara this week did not include any of the SXT real-time operations, which have now been transferred to KSC. The SXT toban's function has therefore been combined with that of the SSOC toban. This worked fine. There were no problems in SSOC functions. 2. DSN communications. There were no problems with DSN communications, although e-mail into the RASM system was unanswered. Preliminary and final schedules were received for the end-of-year operations through Week 1 of 1993. Week 53 had many cancellations because of the TCU limitations, and it was noted that most (but not all) of these cancellations were properly accepted in the RASM schedule for Week 53. The entry of cancellations from preliminary schedules at DSN seems often to have errors on the side of omission, i.e. sometimes we request cancellations that aren't entered. This is OK, because it gives us more flexibility and we can always cancel again in real time. 3. DSN pass lost. DOY 344/1254 (Goldstone) was lost due to Shuttle support. We had no warning of this cancellation, either by fax or by RASM, in time to catch it. Investigation of this should continue - although this is an uncommon occurrence, it was a clear operations "miss" and we should try to avoid the same problem happening again. 4. Mainframe problems. There were mainframe problems of an unspecified nature, plus a problem with AUTO_TOBAN defaults that prevented us from seeing data properly at the beginning of the week. These problems were fixed by Shuto-san and Greg Slater respectively. 5. MS tests and policy. There are ASTRO-D tests going on with the MS computer system, which involves interruption of the digital link to KSC that is used for Yohkoh upload files. This means that files from OPOGEDT and SXTSPT may appear to have been sent, but not actually have been. We request that responsibility for informing the SSOC toban in detail in each case of this type of interruption. 6. Hikitsugi. The STT eclipse timer was set Dec. 15 and verified. The next timer set should be on Dec. 22.
