SSOC Tohban Report for Week 25 (21 - 27 JUN) 1993 K. Morimoto and A.Sterling June 28, 1993 0. Solar Activity: Solar Activity was "low" early in the week, but increased to "high" as AR 7530 came around the East limb late in the week. 1. SSOC Operations: SXT Table Changes: 930620-1446 930621 T1 P1 ARS1 PFI FST2 930621-0308 930621 T2 P4 ARS1+LONG 930621-1547 930622 T1 P2 FAST BP TEST 930622-0206 930622 T2 P4 ARS1+LONG 930622-1444 930623 T1 P1 ARS1 PFI FST2 930623-0103 930623 T2 P3 ARS1+DARK 930623-1445 930624 T1 P2 CORONA+ARS1 930624-0104 930624 T2 P4 ARS1+LONG 930624-1342 930625 T1 P1 ARS1 PFI FST3 930625-0104 930625 T2 P4 ARS1 NO LONG STT Timer Set: Set during pass 930623-1548. Special Operations Bentley san did the last (for now anyway, as he's now back in the UK) of a special series of BCS calibrations on 930622, near 11:30 UT. Spacecraft Offpoints on Thursday: 930623-1445 18' E. 930623-1548 18' W. 930624-0104 Normal The possibility of doing special offpoints on Monday (28-Jun) to see the corona above AR~7530 was considered. Eventually it was decided that by then the region would have moved too far onto the disk (see attached sheet) for the move to really be worth the effort. In the immortal words of Kosugi-sensei, "... we would have almost missed the chance." 4. Missing Data We requested re-transmission from JPL of Goldstone pass 168/2023 data on 24-Jun. Those data have now arrived. Data from Goldstone pass 172/2005 UT (21-Jun) are not yet in. 5. Problems RASM line was nosy from time-to-time (24-Jun), but we were always able to complete our work. Sometimes it was worth waiting for about an hour and then trying again. Mainframe 2 was down Friday evening and Saturday morning. We restarted it on Saturday. 6. Other OGs re-written by Bentley-san and Kosugi-san, and uploaded on 930621-1443 and 930624-1342. One of the tohbans (ACS) worked on the English Documentation much of the week, so the other tohban (KM) had to do most of the normal tohban activities. Bentley and and McAllister-santachi hosted a great party in the new BCS apartment last Monday night. 7. Hikitsugi: Kosugi san and the HXT team plan to start a series of HXT CAL mode observations Tuesday. Hara san and others will consider the possible implications to SXT observations in various modes. Hudson's offpoint notes are stored with the 6/17/93 pass sheets. A supplement to Hugh's notes: We found that good values for the offpoint timing was to set the SXT CNTL AUT command to be about 1:30 -- 1:45 before the "terminator time." Tohbans should add comments to the draft of the new English tohban guide handed out by Sterling at the meeting.
