SSOC Tohban Report for Week 32 (9 AUG - 15 AUG , 1993) H.MIYAZAKI & K.AKITA 16 AUG, 1993 0.General: Typhoon #7 passed by the east of Kagoshima on Monday night. Due to the strong wind, operation was cancelled for the last 3 passes on that day and the first pass on the next day. SXT has been observing the EFR region, AR7562, a target of the joint observing campaign. SXT CCD surface is getting dirty, even though it is only a month since last time we did bakout operation. Bakeout is scheduled for next weekend. 1.Solar Activity: Solar Activity has slightly increasesd. The base line of the GOES plot went up to the level of B5 when the campaign region AR7562 produced several small flares on 11 Aug. 2.SSOC Operations: 2-1. SXT Table Changes: Aug 9, Pass2(930809-0102) 930809 T2 P2 ARS2 EFR+SSET 10, Pass2(930810-0103) 930810 T1 P2 ARS2 EFR+SSET 3(930810-0206) 930810 T2 P3 ARS2 EFR+SSET 4(930810-0309) 930810 T3 P4 ARS2 EFR+SSET 11, Pass2(930810-1548) 930811 T1 P2 ARS2 EFR+SSET 3(930811-0103) 930811 T2 P3 ARS2 EFR+SSET 4(930811-0207) 930811 T3 P4 ARS2 EFR+CH 5(930811-0310) 930811 T4 P5 ARS2 EFR+DARK 12, Pass2(930811-1548) 930812 T1 P1 ARS2 EFR+FAST 4(930812-0207) 930812 T2 P4 ARS2 EFR+STD 13, Pass2(930812-1446) 930813 T1 P2 ARS2 EFR+CH 4(930813-0204) 930813 T2 P4 ARS1 STD+SSET 14, Pass2(930813-1546) 930814 T2 P2 ARS2 CCD BAKE 2-2. STT Timer Set: STT Timer was set in the pass2 on 10, 13 and 14 Aug. Due to the norrow allowance for the Canopus visibility, we had to set the timer frequently only for this week. The next setteing should be done on 17 Aug (back to normal). 3.Errors and Problems: 3-1 BCS Error 930014-0102 (Recovered in the next pass) 3-2 flare2 problem: The internal hard disk of the flare2 crashed on Monday. Since most users' home directories reside on this, WSs were virtually unusable. The disk was restored on Tuesday morning. We may need more reliable hard disk especially for the home directories. 3-3 DSN Scheduling: J.Espinueva reported that the satellite did not transmit data for the passes, DOY=214/BOT=2304 and DOY=216/BOT=2202. It was because the scheduling program did not recognize these passes as the TKG PASSes. ( The program watches the item 'TKG CAT' in the RASM data: Tracking passes are usually designated as '1-A-1', while the above passes are designated as '1-A-5'. ) 3-4 DSN missing passes: Passes DOY=208/BOT=1759 and DOY=212/BOT=1640 of the week 30 are missisng from the Post/Pass Transmission report, and we have not received the dumped data for these passes. According to the op record, DSN downloading was scheduled for these passes. We could not find any record (fax, e-mail) indicationg the cancellation of these passes. The inquiry fax was sent to JPL , but not responded yet. Should we send an e-mail in stead? 3-5 S3500 computer at KSC: S3500 at KSC broke down just before the pass3 on Saturday (14 Aug). Since the Tobans could not check the SXT status etc. without it, the CCD BAKEOUT operation scheduled in the pass3 was cancelled and postponed until next weekend. 4. Special Operation and Calibration 4-1 International joint observing campaign was continued by the end of this week (13 Aug ). 4-2 Terminator exposure program: (see last week's toban report) 4-3 The weekly offpointing were not done this week due to the campaign. 4-5 CCD BAKEOUT was planned, but cancelled due to the computer breakdown at KSC. It was postponed for next weekend. 5. DSN data Data for the above mentioned two passses are missing (see 3-4). All the other data downlinked DSN stations until the last Monday were transmitted. 6.Hikitsugi 6-1. Tobans in week 31 SSOC Yuda & Shyoji KSC Yatagai & Morimoto 6-2 Next STT Timer Set 17 August (Tue) 6-3 Offset Pointing 19 August (Thu)? 6-4 Terminator program. ------End of Report -----
