SSOC Tohban Report for Week 33 (16 AUG - 22 AUG , 1993) S.YUDA & K.AKITA 23 AUG, 1993 0.General: Simultaneous observation with the SERTS rocket (EUV obs.) was successfully accomplished on 18 Aug. CCD BakeOut was postponed again. This time an SXT error occurred at the planned pass. 1.Solar Activity: Solar Activity was very low this week. Two C1-class flares occurred during the Yohkoh's night/SAA time. 2.SSOC Operations: 2-1. STT Timer Set: STT Timer was set in the pass2 on 17 Aug. The next setting should be done on 24 Aug. 3.Errors and Problems: 3-1 SXT BITMAP ERROR 930818-1240 :Recovered immediately by Yobi-C command during the same pass SXT BITMAP ERROR 930819-1444 :ditto SXT WRM ERROR 930820-1341 :(JERR:ST RDY, UERR:SHUTTER) Yobi-A command was issued first, but the filter did not resume the expected position, 3/1. Then, Yobi-B command was issued. On the next pass, the Recovery plan was successfuly operated. kterm& 3-2 flare1 workstation's video circuit: The monitors of flare1 and flare11 flushed with a noise (boom) and both machines shut down immediately around 18:00 JST on 19 Aug. Rebooting was OK except that the monitor of flare1 kept blackout. It turned out that the video circuit board was broken at the incident. The cause of the trouble is not known yet. Could be a power surge. 3-3 DSN Scheduling: Excerpt from the Yohkoh Summary Report from J.Espinuev; > THE ABOVE DISCREPANCY REPORTS WERE WRITTEN DUE TO "NO TELEMETRY > MODULATION DETECTED FROM THE SPACECRAFT". PROJECT`S (ISAS) > SOFTWARE SCANS THE 7-DAY SCHEDULE AND ONLY PICKS YOHKOH PASSES > THAT HAS "1A1" WORK CATEGORY CODES. DSN 26M CONFLICT-RESOLUTION > MEETINGS ARE HELD EVERY MONDAYS AND CHANGES INCURRED ON THE SAID > MEETING ARE MANUALLY TYPED BY THE PROJECT SCHEDULING REPRESENTA- > TIVE AND SUBMIT IT TO DSN SCHEDULING. DUE TO MASSIVE CHANGES, A > WORK CATEGORY CODE OF "1A5" (PLAYBACK) WAS INPUTTED VICE "1A1". > UNFORTUANTELY, SCHEDULING SOFTWARE DOESN`T HAVE THE CAPABILITY > TO CHECK FOR THIS ERROR AT THIS TIME. IN VIEW OF THIS, PROJECT > DID NOT COMMANDED TELEMETRY MODULATION ON THE SPACECRAFT AND DID > NOT ANTICIPATED TELEMETRY DATA ACQUISITION FROM BOTH SUPPORTS. 3-4 DSN missing passes: Slater-san directly called DSN Ops and asked them to re-transmit the data for the passes mentioned in the previous toban_report. Then, voilla, the data arrived real soon. 4. Special Operation and Calibration 4-1 Simultaneous observation with the SERTS rocket. 4-2 Terminator exposure program: Now, Lemen-san brought us a new program to calculate sunset time with higher accuracy (previous one has 15 seconds granuality). It runs only on ISASS# machines. Try, idl>get_sunset('start date', 'end date'). 4-3 The weekly offpointing was not done, but the normal position was changed to avoid the burnt CCD area. New pointing target is 2arcmin west and 0.5arcmin south from the previous target. 4-5 CCD BAKEOUT was planned on 21 Aug, but cancelled again due to the SXT error described in 3-1, which needed too many operation processes to recover. BAKEOUT was re-sceduled to start from 23 Aug. 5. DSN data Retransmission was requested for the pass, DOY 215 19:26. All the other data downlinked DSN stations until the last Monday were transmitted. 6.Hikitsugi 6-1. Tobans in week 34 SSOC Akioka & Uchida KSC Morimoto & Ishido 6-2 Next STT Timer Set 24 August (Tue) 6-3 Offset Pointing 26 August (Thu)? 6-4 Terminator program. Use the new idl program (get_sunset) to decide the timing. 6-5 BCS CAL ? 6-6 GEOTAIL operation Due to the GEOTAIL operation, Yohkoh Ops will have a day off on 1 Sep. ------End of Report ----
