Takahashi 13 Sep, 1993 0.General While the 20m antenna was out of use for five days (see 3-2), Yohkoh was virtualy sleeping (Night mode) all day long. A late summer vacation. Fortunately, Yohkoh woke up in good shape at the first contact after the antenna repairment. ( ASCA seemed to have a bad experience after it woke up.) 1.Solar Activity Solar Activity of this week was even lower than ever. No C-class flare occurred. X-ray sun is quite dark now. 2.SSOC Operations 2-1. STT Timer Set STT timer was set at pass2 on 7 Sep. The next setting should be done on 14 Sep. 3.Error and Problems 3-1. SXT/BCS has no error in this week. 3-2. KSC 20m Antenna trouble Due to the strong wind broght by the typhoon #13 last week, a lock pin which secured the 20 meter Antenna during the storm was bent and stuck. The antenna had been un-operational until 7 Sep. The lock pin was removed and the antenna is working for now. 3-3. KSC S3500 computer trouble There was a troulbe receiving the real-time data with S3500 since the first contact this week. The culprit was a broken channel adaptor. Fujitsu people managed to replace it with a new one on Friday, earliest possible day with all their efforts. 3-4. KSC Fax machine touble Group Send function does not work. Meanwhile, SSOC tobans should forward the Operation Reports to seven destinations. 4.Special Operations and Calibrations 4-1. Offset pointing The 8' east/west offset pointing was done from pass 2 to pass 4 on 8 Sep. 5. DSN data From 4 Sep 18:00UT (last week) through 7 Sep 8:00 UT 7, all the DSN contacts were cancelled since the timer-sequence table could not be uploaded due to the 20m antenna trouble. There was a phone call from J.Espineuva inquiring what was going on. Maybe Tobans should let him know about the situation when DSN scheduling are in the state of SNAFU. He may need information for his Support Summary reports (see apendix). 6.Hikitsugi 6-1. Tobans in week 37 SSOC Kano(chief), Akita KSC Uchiuzo, Hiraoka 6-2. Someone among the core members who is familiar with the ACS Maneuvering at the initial operation phase should take care of the whole operations. They will test S gyro on 16th. If the result is satisfying, Y gyro will be substituted by S gyro next day.
