SSOC Tohban Report for Week 10 (7 MAR - 13 MAR, 1994) 14 March, 1994 (Mon) Yukio Kozuka and Kentaro Yaji (SSOC) Takehiko Shinkawa and Kiyoshi Ichimoto (KSC) 1. Solar Activity Solar activity was very low last week. There was only one C-class flare (C1.1) which occurred on Mar.12. There was a large coronal hole in the south hemisphere. 2. Standard Operations 2.1 SXT table uploads Date(UT) Pass ID Mar.8 940308-0101 940308 P4 ARS1 DKCAL 940308-1340 940308 P2 FIX XBP-1 940308-1547 940308 P4 ARS1 STD+LONG Mar.9 940309-1237 940309 P1 FIX XBP-2 940309-1547 940309 P4 ARS1 STD+LONG Mar.10 940310-1134 940310 P1 FIX XBP-3 940310-1445 940310 P4 ARS1 STD+LONG Mar.11 940311-1135 940311 P1 FIX XBP-4 940311-1445 940311 P4 ARS1 STD+LONG Mar.12 ---- ---- Mar.13 ---- ---- 2.2 STT timer set Done on Mar.7 21:00 UT (next will be Mar.14 ~16:30 UT) 2.3 Offset pointing No East-West offpoint was conducted last week. A south offpoint for a special X-ray Bright Point campaign was done as follows: S/C 8' south (Mar.9 18:20 UT; 940309-1237) S/C normal point (Mar.9 23:30 UT; 940309-1547) 2.4 Calibrations None. 3. Special Operations 3.1 A special X-ray Bright Point campaign SXT observing comprised a special X-ray Bright Point (XBP) campaign with Karen Harvey at KPNO for Week10. 3.2 SXT Table Upload and South Offpoint SXT tables for the XBP campain were uploaded on from Mar.8 to Mar.11 (UT). Except on Mar.8. the XBP tables were uploaded at Pass1 in order to increase the period of optimum joint observations with KPNO. A south offpoint of 8' was done from Pass1 to Pass4 on Mar.9 in order to place the observing region near the SXT optical axis and to decrease the straylight from the Al.1 pinholes. 3.3 Quiet Med Mode during SAA In this XBP campaign we were faced with the old problem that SAA data is overwriting non-SAA data in the BDR. This is especially damaging for an XBP campaign where it is impossible to correct for the "noise" and the solar features are inherently dark. In order to avoid to overwrite non-SAA data in the BDR, we put OG "QUIET RATE MED" at entry to SAA and OG "QUIET RATE HI" at exit to SAA in the OPs uploaded on Mar.10 and Mar.11(UT). 4. Errors and problems 4.1 Operations A new OG for 8' south offpoint was not uploaded at pass1 on Mar.8(UT). The OG was for the X-ray Bright Point Campain. As the result, the ROG carried out at pass2 on that day was an empty OG (NOP) and a south offpointing was not done. A lack of comunications between KSC and SSOC caused the miss operations. The new OG was uploaded at pass1 on Mar.9. 4.2 SXT error BITMAP error : 940309-1341 (pass2 on Mar.9 (UT)). The error was fixed by the Yobi-C command at the same pass. 4.3 BCS error BCS error occurred at 940313-1447 (pass5 on Mar.13 (UT)). This error will be fixed at pass2 on Mar.14. 4.4 X-Band Disorder Locking of the X-Band was late at pass5 on Mar.8 (UT)(940308-0205). As the result, about 10% of the play-back data was not reproduced. It was supposed that this trouble was caused by a change of the X-band central frequency at which the data were transmitted from MS to receiver. 5. DSN Communications 5.1 Cancellations There was no additional real-time cancellations by DSN. 5.2 Data delay All the data until DOY 66 (Mar.7) has arrived at ISAS and is stored in SIRIUS. The following two DSN data, reported at the last weekly meeting, were transmitted, but they had been partly corrupted again. We re-requested JPL for their retransmission on Mar.7. But the uncorrupted downlink data has not reached us. > All the data until DOY 56 (Feb.25) has arrived at ISAS and is stored in >SIRIUS. However, the following two DSN downlink data had been partly corrupted >and had some problem in storing in the SIRIUS database.
