SSOC TOBAN REPORT FOR WEEK 27 (4 June to 11 July 1994) SSOC: Fujiki and Akioka KSC: Kawasima and Watanabe_H 1. SOLAR ACTIVITY --------------------------------------------- Solar activity was low in this week. The NOAA 7742, which produced a M class and a few C-class flares in W26, are already decayed at the beginning of this period. NOAA7746 was appeared on the east limb on 2nd July and produced isolated M class flare on 7th July. 7746 is now already stable region. 2. STANDARD OPERATIONS ---------------------------------------- 2.1 SXT table uploads 4-Jul 940704 P4 ARS1 DKCAL 5-Jul 940705 P2 ARS1 S-OFFPOINT 940705 P3 ARS1 STD+LONG 6-Jul 940706 P2 ARS1 STD+LONG was cancelled.(KSC tranmitter trouble, see 4.3) 7-Jul 940707 P2 ARS1 STD+LONG was cancelled.(All KSC passes were cancelled, see 4.4) 8-Jul 940707 P2 ARS1 STD+LONG was cancelled.(OP-WRITE was done in P2, see 4.4) 9-Jul 940709 P2 ARS1 STD+LONG 2.2 STT timer set was done on Monday, 4-July, and will be done again on Monday, 11-July. The tohbans for week may need to do another setting. 3. SPECIAL OPERATIONS ---------------------------------------- 5-Jul ROG 56h(S/C SOUTH) (P2) ( Offset Pointing) ROG 20h(S/C NORMAL)(P3) 6-Jul BCS error recovery 4. ERRORS AND PROBLEMS ---------------------------------------- 4.1 BCS Error On 1st pass on July 6, BCS error was found by KSC tohban and successfully recovered on 2nd pass. 4.2 SXT error Bit map error was found on 1st pass on 4th July, and recovered with YOBI COMMAND C at the same pass. 4.3 Klystrons trouble of transmitter Tranmitter at KSC was repaired by changing the Klystron. For this work, 1st pass on 6th July was cancelled. According to the report from KSC, this repairment was not complete one, but no problem for operation( Only 100W power available for 1000W mode). 4.4 20-m antenna at KSC The 20 m antenna at KSC had trouble at during ASCA operation on 7th July. This trouble is due to the trouble of cooling fan for AZ drive. The situation on this time is fatal , all KSC passes on 7 July was cancelled. Corresponding DSN contacts were also cancelled. The recovery and OP upload was done on 1st and 2nd pass on 8 July. On pass1 , although we tried to recovery but telemetry link sometimes locked off and gone to NT/L, we cannot complete OP memory check at that pass. We tried OP upload again on second pass and started with OP CONTINUE. After that Yohkoh started to work normally. 5. DSN COMMUNICATIONS ------------------------------------------ 5.1 DSN schedule delivery All schedule were normally delivered on time. 5.2 Re-transmission requests NONE 6. YOHKOH/ASCA PASS CONFLICTS --------------------------------- One KSC pass was lost during Week 27 because of ASCA conflict. (5th pass on 5-Jul).Week 28 also has an ASCA conflict on 13 July and 14 July. Pass 5 on 14-July will be lost on W28. 7. Holiday Schedule --------------------------------- Yohkoh holiday schedule has been set through the beginning of September in such a way as to minimize the ASCA conflicts, but within our Sunday-holiday policy. Next holidays wii be on 17 July. 8. HIKITSUGI ITEMS --------------------------------- 8.1 Tobans for week 27 SSOC: Suematsu/Miyashita KSC: Watanabe_H/Bushimata 8.2 Yohkoh/ASCA pass conflicts At present, it is SSOC toban's job to negotiate with ASCA people for telemetry conflict resolution. There have been regular tohban-level meetings each Friday at 2:00 pm, including Ito, Zylstra, and Lemen, to work out the problems. 8.3 Katazuke Please delete all personal files that have accumulated in the yohkoh directories on flare11 and flare1. One can get a list of them by doing flare11% ls -lt | more for example. 8.4 New software Katano_san (brilliant NEC software engineer) has made new software that will replace ATTLOG. It will record both real-time offpoints and OP offpoints. She will also run this software. The tohbans should coordinate on this and run ATTLOG if necessary this week.
