SSOC TOBAN REPORT FOR WEEK 28

1. SOLAR ACTIVITY   ---------------------------------------------

Solar activity was low in this week. There occurred 16 flares above X-ray   
class B2; the largest was C6.0 of July 12 (0919UT, NOAA7746).

2. STANDARD OPERATIONS   ----------------------------------------

2.2 STT timer set 
was done on Monday, 11-July, and will be done again
on Monday, 18-July. The tohbans for week may need to do another setting
on 25 July.

3. SPECIAL OPERATIONS   ----------------------------------------

4. ERRORS AND PROBLEMS   ----------------------------------------

4.1 DP Error

On 5th pass on July 13, DP error (code 81) was found by KSC tohban and 
successfully recovered on 1st pass on July 14.

4.2 Electric power down at KSC

On July 16 (Sat), electric power supply unexpectedly stopped at KSC around 
15:30 JST.  It came up around 15:40,  but the tracking of pass 2 (16:04-16:19)
could not be carried out because of MS check-up.

4.3 S-band trouble
Before the pass 5 on July 16 (Sat), 20m antena had a trouble (1st Lo fault)
and was not recovered. This trouble prevented KSC tobans from using S-band.
They carried out the tracking with X-band only and could not make repro.
After the pass 5, the antena was recoverd, but the reason of this trouble is
not  known yet. 


5. DSN COMMUNICATIONS   ------------------------------------------

5.1 DSN schedule delivery

  All schedule were normally delivered on time.

5.2 Re-transmission requests

  NONE

6. YOHKOH/ASCA PASS CONFLICTS  --------------------------------- 

One KSC pass was lost during Week 28 because of ASCA conflict.
(5th pass on 14-Jul). Week 29 also has an ASCA conflict on 18
22, and 23 July.  Pass 5 on 18 and 23 July will be lost on W29.

7. Holiday Schedule --------------------------------- 

Yohkoh holiday schedule has been set through the beginning of
September in such a way as to minimize the ASCA conflicts, but within
our Sunday-holiday policy.
Next holidays wii be on 24 July.

8.2 Yohkoh/ASCA pass conflicts

At present, it is SSOC toban's job to negotiate with ASCA people for 
telemetry conflict resolution. There have been regular tohban-level
meetings each Friday at 2:00 pm, including Ito, Zylstra, and Lemen,
to work out the problems.

8.3 Katazuke

Please delete all personal files that have accumulated in the yohkoh
directories on flare11 and flare1. One can get a list of them by doing

  flare11% ls -lt | more 

for example.

8.4 New software

Katano_san (brilliant NEC software engineer) has made new software
that will replace ATTLOG. It will record both real-time offpoints
and OP offpoints. She will also run this software. The tohbans
should coordinate on this and run ATTLOG if necessary this week.
