SSOC TOBAN REPORT FOR WEEK 31 (1 August to 8 August 1994) SSOC: Y. Uchida and T. Magara KSC: T. Takahashi and Wakabayashi 1. SOLAR ACTIVITY --------------------------------------------- Solar activity was also low this week. NOAA7761 region was an ephemeral region and disappeared in a few days. However region NOAA7762, which appeared on AUG-3, produced two B2-flares. 2. STANDARD OPERATIONS ---------------------------------------- 2.1 SXT table uploads JST day Table ID 01-Aug-94 940801 P2 HIDA PFI DOM 01-AUG-94 940801 P3 ARS2 STD+LONG 02-AUG-94 940801 P2 HIDA PFI DOM 02-AUG-94 940802 P3 ARS1 STD+LONG 02-AUG-94 940802 P4 ARS2 STD+LONG 03-AUG-94 940803 P2 HIDA PFI DOM 03-AUG-94 940803 P3 HIDA PFI DOM 03-AUG-94 940803 P4 ARS1 STD+LONG 04-AUG-94 940804 P3 HIDA PFI DOM 04-AUG-94 940804 P4 ARS1 STD+LONG 05-AUG-94 940804 P2 HIDA PFI DOM 05-AUG-94 940804 P2 ARS1 STD+LONG 06-AUG-94 940805 P2 HIDA PFI DOM 06-AUG-94 940805 P4 ARS1 STD+LONG 2.2 STT timer set The STT timer set was done on 5 August successfully. Canopus observations have been terminated until next week because of eclipse. A new timer set should be done as soon as the eclipse period ends. 2.3 BCS STIM CAL It was done on 6 August successfully. 3. SPECIAL OPERATIONS ---------------------------------------- HIDA Campaign A special campaign to search for emerging flux regions organized by Kurokawa at Hida Observatory continued. SXT observed a newly emerging flux region using PFI dominant mode. 4. ERRORS AND PROBLEMS ---------------------------------------- 4.1 Flare11 Keyboard The flare11 keyboard gave us a lot of trouble. The tobans of last week swapped it with the keyboard on flare9 but the "return" and "i" keys still did not work well. Shimizu-san has now swapped out the keyboard with flare10, moving the problem there until service can be performed. 4.2 Printer Trouble in KSC As far as we know, there is still a problem with one of the printers at KSC and daily sun-spot regions should be Faxed to them. 5. YOHKOH/ASCA PASS CONFLICTS ----------------------- Two KSC passes were lost on 1 and 2-Aug (both are 5th passes). We are going to lose the 5th passes on 11-Aug during Week 32. The 5th pass on Friday at 03:27-03:38 UT ended slightly early to allow the 15-minute setup time prior to the start of the ASCA pass. 6. Holiday Schedule ------------------------------ The next holiday will be on 13 August. T. Kosugi will establish the future holiday schedule for Yohkoh. 7. HIKITSUGI ITEMS --------------------------------- 7.1 Tobans for week 32 SSOC: Akita KSC: Wakabayashi/Sakao 7.2 STT Timer Set The STT timer must be set no later than Friday. 7.3 ASCA/Yohkoh KSC conflict problem This problem is to be solved by consulting Nagase-san. 7.4 Yohkoh/ASCA pass conflicts problem Jim Lemen's algorithm for avoiding Yohkoh/ASCA pass conflicts was presented at Yohkoh-ASCA operation adjustment meeting on 5 Aug. It was attended by H. Hudson, N. Nitta, Y. Uchida, and T. Magara on the Yohkoh side, and Itoh-san, and Skinner-san from the ASCA side. The table after eliminating the passes having conflict by Lemen's algolithm was checked manually for Yohkoh pass, and it was found to be alright. 7.5 Daily sunspot region maps from NOAA One of the printers at KSC is not fixed. SSOC toban should send a daily NOAA sunspot region map to KSC every morning. 7.6 New English Manual This week's toban noted that one additional statement is needed at page 35 (11.2 Transfering Files via RASM). It has been noted by the last week's toban that we should make sure to use the check sheet properly. PS There are some mistakes this week's toban made. For example, 1) Misunderstood the pass when SXT table uploads and didn't communicate with KSC toban. 2) Forgot to save the E-mails sent to "yohkoh" in a proper way. End of report
