SSOC Tohban Report for Week 07 ( 13 Feb - 19 Feb 1995) SSOC: MIYASHITA, M., and SAKAO, T. KSC : SHIMOJO, M., and KUMAGAI, K. 1. Solar Activity ------------------------------------------------------------ Solar activity was moderately low in the first half of week 7, while GOES GOES X-ray level increased from ~B1 to ~B3 towards the weekend. NOAA 7843 (S13E18 on Feb. 19 at 17:50 UT) has continued to develop rapidly, showing delta configuration. According to Bearalert, this AR may produce M-class events. There was a C3.3 flare on Feb.18 at ~12:20 UT, which, we hope, was observed by Yohkoh. There were several C-class events on Feb.19. 2. Standard Operations ------------------------------------------------------- 2.1 SXT Table Uploads ---------------------------------------------------------- KSC Time (start) in JST Pass# Table ID ---------------------------------------------------------- 13-Feb-95 17:00 5 950213 P5 ARS1 STD+LONG 14-Feb-95 12:08 3 950214 P3 ARS1 DARKCAL 15-Feb-95 10:45 2 950215 P2 ARS1 STD+LONG 16-Feb-95 9:20 2 950216 P2 ARS1+FIX STRAY 16-Feb-95 12:50 4 950216 P4 ARS1 STD+LONG 17-Feb-95 - (no table upload) 18-Feb-95 23:20 2 950218 P2 ARS1 STR+LONG 19-Feb-95 - (no table upload) ---------------------------------------------------------- 2.2 STT Timer Set STT Timer was set at the 2nd contact on Tuesday, Feb. 14 (~10:30 UT). 3. Special Operations ------------------------------------------------------- OG table was revised on 18-Feb-95 at pass 1. The new OG table contains offpoint OGs (OG-33, 34, 35, 36, 85, 86, and 87 (decimal)) which will be used for terminator offpoints. Unfortunately, as there was little chance of available terminator timings, the S/C offpoints will be carried out in this week (W08). 4. Errors & Problems -------------------------------------------------------- 4.1 SXT and BCS errors. None. 4.2 Problems Strawman schedule for W10 included a large number of spurious ASCA DSN passes. These passes all started at the same time as `real' Yohkoh passes. This problem may be caused by appearance of Wallops to the Strawman schedule. Skinner-san of ASCA asked JPL to fix this problem. Part of the following DSN downlink data did not arrive at ISAS. We requested JPL for re-transmission. Feb.12 (DOY 43) 18:05-18:15 UT (Canberra) 5. DSN Communications ------------------------------------------------------ 5.1 DSN Strawman Schedule for W10 Wallops has appeared in the Strawman schedule for W10. We cancelled a total of 26 DSN contacts from the schdule. 5.2 DSN Forecast Schedule for W09 We cancelled a total of 4 DSN contacts from the forecast schdule. Wallops has come into the entry. 5.3 DSN Final Schedule for W08 There were two cancellations for W08. 5.4 DSN Final Schedule for W07 We cancelled 2 DSN contacts from the final schedule because the elevations were too low. 6. Yohkoh/ASCA Pass Conflicts at KSC ---------------------------------------- In week 07, we lost the following four KCS passes due to pass conflicts with ASCA: 950213-0309 (3rd pass of Feb.13, from 4:27 UT) 950213-0413 (4th pass of Feb.13, from 6:10 UT) 950214-0310 (4th pass of Feb.14, from 4:46 UT) 950218-0206 (4th pass of Feb.18, from 2:38 UT) 7. Holiday Schedule ------------------------------------------------------- The next operational holiday will be on Monday, Feb. 27, when KSC will again back up GEOTAIL operation. 8. Hikitsugi Items -------------------------------------------------------- 8.1 Tohbans for Week 08 KSC : KUMAGAI, K., and SHIMIZU, T. SSOC : SHIBATA, K., AKITA, K., and WEBER, M. 8.2 STT timer setting The next STT timer set is due on Tuesday (21-Feb-95). 8.3 Wallops station - Support software - We modified AOSLOSGD and AOSLOS so that they include Wallops station. The new programs are not on-line right now. We will copy them to S88239 directory this week. Please examine the programs in detail and let me (TS) know if there is anything strange. - Downlink at Wallops - This week's (W08) tohbans have to deal with Wallops contacts in the Final schedule. As this is the first time for Wallops to be used by Yohkoh/ASCA, we should be careful in using Wallops station: Downlinks at Wallops need be sufficiently backed up by other appropriate DSN stations (usually Goldstone) so that possible failure in data receiving at Wallops would give minimum impact on the observations. After we fully examine the downlinked data, Wallops will be used as a `regular' DSN station. 8.4 DSN Data: There is no delay. 8.5 GBO mailing list Following the WOM last Monday, we asked Nitta-san for the deletions of altrock@sunspot.noao.edu and muller@mesioa.obspm.fr fro GBO mailing list. These addresses have been deleted from the list. 8.6 Terminators We should make the best of all possible terminator opportunities. Every MONDAY, please run OP_FIRST_GUESS for all days through Sunday, 26 Feb., so that the terminator predictions will be available for use by the SXT Chief Observer. End of report.
