***** SSOC Tohbans Report for Week10_95 (06.Mar.1995 - 12.Mar.1995) ***** SSOC: Nakajima, H., Suga, K. KSC : Muranaka, Kobayashi 1. Solar Activity ---------------------------------------------------------- Solar activity slightly increased this week as compared with the last week. About five C-class flares occurred. The largest flare between 06-Mar and 13-Mar was C3.8 flare occurred at 10-Mar 18:05 UT on AR7846. 2. YOHKOH/ASCA Pass Conflicts at KSC --------------------------------------- In week 10, we lost the following 4 KCS passes due to pass conflicts with ASCA: 950307-1135 and -1238 (Passes 3 and 4 of (Tue)07-Mar, from 17:03 UT) 950308-1135 (Pass 3 of (Wed)08-Mar, from 17:22 UT) 950309-1136 (Pass 3 of (Thu)09-Mar, from 17:42 UT). 3. Standard Operations ----------------------------------------------------- 3.1 SXT Table Uploads : 2 times. KSC AOS Day/Time (JST) Pass# Table ID ---------------------------------------------------------- (Wed)08-Mar-95 00:21 2 950307_P2_ARS1_DARKCAL (Thu)09-Mar-95 00:41 2 950308_P2_ARS1_STD+LONG 3.2 STT Timer Set STT Timer was set at the Pass 2 on (Tue)07-Mar,15:25 UT. STT timer works well. 4. Special Operations ------------------------------------------------------ OG was updated at the Pass 1 on (Fri)10-Mar (ID:950310-0826_OG+OP) for changing 'HXT AMP GAIN ADJUSTMENT ( No.46-53(Decimal) )'. HXT CAL was done at the Passes 2 and 3 on (Mon)06-Mar and also at the Pass 2 on (Wed)08-Mar. HXT AMP GAIN ADJUSTMENT was done at the Passes 2 and 3 on (Tue)10-Mar by ROG. HXT CAL was done at the Pass 4 on (Tue)10-Mar and at the Passes 1 and 2 on (Sat)11-Mar. 5. Errors & Problems ------------------------------------------------------- 5.1 SXT and BCS Errors It was found at the Pass 2 on (Tue)07-Mar that the uploaded SXT table matched the planned table in the MS computer but did not match that in the ISAS SSOC#1 computer. Then, KSC tohban again compared the uploaded table with those in the two computers at the next Pass(Pass 5), and they found that it was OK. The reason that cause this was extensively examined by Kano-san(SXT super tohban), but is still unknown. A BCS error was found at the Pass 4 on (Wed)08-Mar, and recovered at the Pass 2 on (Thu)09-Mar. And, A BCS error was found at the Pass 3 on (Thu)09-Mar, and recovered at the Pass 2 on (Fri)10-Mar. 5.2 DSN Data downlink problem Jose Valencia-san, JPL, reported us that the pass (DOY:066(07-Mar), BOT:0049, EOT:0100) was successfully tracked over DSN66 (Madrid), however no telemetry dump modulation was detected on the S-band downlink. Then, we checked the log-data (by using what is called the DL(delayed look)) from the data which was downloaded to the next station (also Madrid station). We confirmed that the 'DSN REPRO' OG was issued as planned over the first Madrid contact. So, the reason why the Madrid station did not received the data is still unknown. 5.3 Op_first_guess problem We carried out op_first_guess on 10-Mar(Fri) in order to make an op table for 13-Mar(Mon) night, and found some problem concerning selection of DSN stations. In the table, 'Requested DSN Station Times', the three stations (Madrid, Wallops, Wallops) were listed correctly. However, in the final table,'Selected DSN Station Times', the stations(Madrid, Goldstone, M, G) were listed. The first station is correct. The second to fourth stations are absolutely not correct, because these three stations are not listed in the DSN final schedule for week #11. (Of course, the two Wallops station were not listed in the final table.) Then, we sent an E-mail to Lemen-san and Linford-san on 11-Mar(Sat) to examine this curious phenomenon. ((==> It was fixed by Lemen-san on last Saturday.)) 5.4 IDL version on Flare1 WS (Not problem, but confusing ) IDL which on Flare1 WS is old version (Ver.2.1.0). Then, some of IDL programs(ex. goes_summary, plot_goes, etc.) were not running. 6. DSN Communications ------------------------------------------------------ 6.1 DSN schedule cancellation Number of cancellation ------------------------------------------------------------ Final schedule for Week10 : 1 (Because of LOW elevation) Final schedule for Week11 : 6 (Because of LOW elevation, etc.) Forcast schedule for Week12 : 26 Strawman schedule for Week13 : 37 6.2 DSN Data transmission There is no delay. 6.3 Wallops station( 4th DSN that used by YOHKOH/ASCA ) Wallops station has been under test operation since the last week (week #09). ISAS SIRIUS people has confirmed the validity of the downlinked data. In case of ASCA, Wallops station was put into the normal operation after the test operation during two weeks. It is possible in case of YOHKOH that Wallops station is put into the normal operation in the next week (#11). Who determine this ? Anyway, we did DSN deletion for both DSN Forecast and Strawman Schedules, assuming that Wallops station will be put into the normal operation in weeks 12 and 13. ((==> Wallops station has been put into the normal operation from this week.)) 7. Hikitsugi Items -------------------------------------------------------- 7.1 Tohbans for Week11 KSC : Kobayashi and Koide SSOC : Matsuda and Hori 7.2 STT timer setting The next STT timer set is due on (Tue)14-Mar. 7.3 Holiday schedule The next operational holiday will be on Sunday,19-March. 7.4 Wallops station SSOC tohban should carefully check the Wallops passes on the next weeks DSN final data. Some contacts should be cancelled if the Wallops station starts normal operation. Since Wallops station is not taken into account by op_first_guess, SSOC tohban should have to modify OP plan by hand. AOSLOS program at KSC is not yet modified to incorporate Wallops station. Then, SSOC tohbans should fax the AOSLOS list for Wallops to KSC. 7.5 GBO mailing list Nothing to report. 7.6 Flare1 Work Station When Flare1 work station crashes, the important program,'srspas_run' usually disappears. To check and revive the program should be a job of SSOC tohban. See the Tohban Duty Manual. <<< End of report. Thank you. (^_^) >>>
