SSOC Tohban Report for Week 11_95 ( 13 Mar - 19 Mar 1995) SSOC: HORI, K., MATSUDA, T. KSC : KOBAYASHI, N.,KOIDE, S. 1. Solar Activity ----------------------------------------------------- The solar activity was generally low throughout the week 11 with the base line of GOES staying B-class level. However a few C-class flares occurred since March 14 and the largest was being a C4.0 event at NOAA7854 on March 16. NOAA7854 is now growing and more C-class flares may occur in this AR. 2. Standard Operations ------------------------------------------------ 2.1 SXT Table Uploads : 4 times --------------------------------------------------------------------- KSC Time (start) Pass# Table ID --------------------------------------------------------------------- 15-Mar-95 21:49 JST 2 950315 P2 ARS1 DARKCAL 16-Mar-95 20:26 2 950316 P2 ARS1 STD+LONG 17-Mar-95 20:45 2 950317 p2 ARS1 VLA-XBP 18-Mar-95 22:48 4 950318 p4 ARS1 STD+OFF --------------------------------------------------------------------- 2.2 STT Timer Set STT Timer was set at the Pass4 on (Thu)14-Mar,16:00 UT. 3. Errors & Problems ------------------------------------------------- 3.1 SXT and BCS errors. There was a SXT SYNC error on (Mon)13-Mar at Pass1 (PASS 950313-0825), the first pass of this week. Yobi-A & B were executed in order to move SXT into the safe mode. In the next pass,Recovery Plan was done but the error could not be cleared. So the SXT table (950313 P2 ARS1 DARKCAL) was not uploaded in Pass2. Which caused SXT SHUTTER error. Because the third pass was used by ASCA, the Recovery Plan was tried again in Pass4 though which failed, too. According to SXT super tohban HARA san, SXT HALT operation was done in Pass5 to protect SXT. Until the next day(14-March),SXT Invalid Mailbox access error continued and was cleared successfully in Pass2. There was no BCS error in this week. 3.2 Deletion of Strawman Schedule for W14 The strawman schedule did not arrive until Saturday and hence we could not have the meeting on the DSN conflict with ASCA on Friday afternoon. According to Skinner san's proposal, the negotiation will be done between Skinner san and Hudson san on Monday.(today!!) ^^^^^^ 3.3 JPL report problem JPL reported us that the data has been successfully acquired by DSN stations. But some mistakes were found by KATANO san about the labels of stored data. For example... SAT TIME : CANBERRA (right)-----> WALLOPS GOLDSTONE (right)-----> WALLOPS ,and so on. We requested JPL to send again the correct data on 16-mar-95. 4. DSN Communications ------------------------------------------------------ 4.1 DSN Strawman Schedule for W14 We've not yet checked DSN conflicts with ASCA and not yet have meeting with Skinner san. ( He came back to home comfortably after making the decision by himself on Friday evening... cf.3.2) 4.2 DSN Forecast Schedule for W13 We cancelled 1 DSN contacts from the forecast schedule. 4.3 DSN Final Schedule for W12 There was no cancellation for W12. 4.4 Wallops station Until week11,the test operation for Wallops had been continued and the normal operation starts from this week(W12). To make OP plan, SSOC_Tohban should select either Goldstone or Wallops for DSN station appropriately since Wallops station is not taken into yet by op_first_guess. We wish the AOSLOS program would be modified to incorporate Wallops station by 'someone' in near future. 5. YOHKOH/ASCA Pass Conflicts at KSC ------------------------------------ In week 11, we lost the following 5 KSC passes .... (1) Due to pass conflicts with ASCA 3rd pass on (Mon)13-Mar 4th pass on (Fri)17-Mar 5th pass on (Fri)17-Mar (2) Due to the launch of H II rocket 1st & 2nd passes on (Sat)18-Mar 6. Special operation " The SFU Launch has succeeded on 18 Mar.!!" The satellite SFU was successfully launched at about 08:00UT 95-03-18 as the schedule by H II rocket. On (Thu)16-mar there was the expanded pass conflict resolution meeting during SFU( Dr.NAGASE et al.),ASCA( Dr.NAGASE ) and YOHKOH ( SSOC YOHKOH tohbans). For the case of the failure or delay of Launch,we made quickly the command sheets( including three versions) and sent to KSC at the night. We tohbans decided to make OP(950318-0928 OP) start in Pass4. Because of this Launch ,YOHKOH couldn't use KSC station and lost 1st & 2nd passes on (Sat)18-Mar. From 3rd pass, our operation was done safely. But during a few days from the launch, SFU has priority over YOHKOH. So our operation will be decided finally by the meeting which be held later. 7. Holiday Schedule -------------------------------------------------- The next operational holiday will be on Sunday, March 26. 8. Hikitsugi Items -------------------------------------------------- 8.1 Tohbans for Week12 KSC : S.Koide and K.Koyama SSOC : J.I.Khan and H.Hudson 8.2 YOHKOH/ASCA Pass conflicts in DSN strawman Schedule < CAUTION!! > As we wrote upon, YOHKOH/ASCA conflict meeting isn't still held. Please remember next tohbans. ( YOROSIKU ONEGAISIMASU...) 8.2 STT timer setting The next STT timer set is due on (Tue)21-Mar. 8.4 DSN Data: There is no delay. 8.5 GBO mailing list Nothing to report. <> P.S.
