SSOC Tohban Report for Week 13_95 ( 27 Mar - 2 Apr 1995) SSOC : Hanaoka, Y., Tonooka, H. KSC : Takahashi, M., Watanabe, Te. 1. Solar Activity ----------------------------------------------------- Activity was low. There were several C-class flares in NOAA7858. 2. Standard Operations ------------------------------------------------ 2.1 SXT Table Uploads : 2 times on the same day. --------------------------------------------------------------------- KSC Time (start) Pass# Table ID --------------------------------------------------------------------- 29-Mar-95 14:21 JST 2 950329 P2 ARS1 DARKCAL 29-Mar-95 17:47 4 950329 P4 ARS1 STD+SHRT --------------------------------------------------------------------- 2.2 STT Timer Set We recognize that the STT Timer set would be done during the Pass2 on 28 Mar, but the chart showed that the star can not be seen during the next 2 passes. So we planed again to set at the Pass #2 on Wednesday, 29 Mar. This decision would not be any problem because the timer had been stoped. 2.3 S/C off pointing There were 3 offpointings in this week. The performed time and day are following. 29 Mar 23:34 - 00:17 UT : OG 34 S/C W19 S01 31 Mar 19:20 - 20:02 UT : OG 35 S/C W10 S01 20:58 - 21:39 UT : OG 36 S/C W04 N00 2.4 BCS calibration According to Sterling san's request, the BCS calibration was performed during the Pass3 and 8:05(UT) on 31 Mar. 3. Errors & Problems ------------------------------------------------- 3.1 SXT and BCS errors. An SXT error detected on 25 March was recovered on Monday, 27 March. On 28 March, there were one BCS error and one SXT error. The BCS error was detected on Pass #1 and successfully recoverd on Pass #2. The SXT error which was FRAME GATE error, was detected on Pass #4, KSC tohban put the command 'yobi-a and b' during the pass and recoverd on Pass #5. 3.2 JPL Data transmission problem Katano san suggested that two data of DOY 82 (23 Mar) DSS-76 were broken or not complete, so we sent two retransmission request faxes. First one seemed to be ignored, and do they see the second one? 3.3 The meeting for Strawman Schedule confliction has not been held yet! Because no expert was here, there was no meeting on Friday. 4. DSN Communications ------------------------------------------------------ 4.1 DSN Strawman Schedule for W16 Because of 3.3 no schedule has been fixed. 4.2 DSN Forecast Schedule for W15 We cancelled 6 DSN contacts from the Forecast Schedule. 4.3 DSN Final Schedule for W14 We cancelled 2 DSN contacts from the final schedule. 4.4 Post-pass transmission report for Wallops station Previous SSOC tohbans requested to send Post-pass transmission report from Wallops station by fax, the reply E-mail came and saying that the person was investigating to send the reports by using cc:mail. The answer mail was send by Lemen san. We expect the report will come. 4.5 Pass addition Because of the SFU-IRTS campaign, we lost 3 contacts out of 4 on Sunday, 2 Apr unfortunately. So there was only one contact with DSN on that day. And no other contact by KSC because of the holiday. We asked to have more contact, and got one back from which we canceled in Strawman cancellation. From this case, we found that there seemed to be more chance to get the contact back in asking the one we cancelled before and not conflict with asca. The one cancelled by JPL is often occupied by other satellite. 5. YOHKOH/ASCA/SFU Pass Conflicts at KSC ------------------------------------ In week 13, we lost many KSC passes, but better than last week. There was 9 lost and 6 was due to ASCA, 3 was due to SFU. In week 14, about the same amount of confliction with ASCA, and inclease with SFU. At the meeting with ASCA (Nagase san) and SFU (Tanabe san) on Thurseday, we decided to have the conflict resolution meeting on Thurseday from 1:00pm, insted of regular meeting with Nagase san. 6. Special operation We got an E-mail from JPL on Friday. They asked us if we can turn on the X-Band of satellite on following period. 95/03/31 95-090 18:47 to 18:58 UTC 95/03/31 95-090 22:11 to 22:25 UTC We made two OGs, OG33 and OG34 (both numbers are decimal) to turn on and off the X-band, OG 33 TMX ON(L) OG 34 TMX OFF and put them into the OP. When we finished to do this, the OP of the day has been send to the satellite, so we made another OP and launched at the pass #5. We asked JPL person to tell us detail, but we don't know whether the operation like this will be held again. So we didn't restore the OG. When using the OG34 as S/C W19 S01 and OG33 as the original function, please revise the OG's. 7. Holiday Schedule -------------------------------------------------- The next operational holiday will be on Sunday, April 9. 8. Hikitsugi Items -------------------------------------------------- 8.1 Tohbans for Week14 KSC : Takahashi, M., Yasuno, S. SSOC : Watanabe, H., Masuda, S. 8.2 STT timer setting The next STT timer set is due on (Tue)4-Apr. 8.3 DSN Data: As we wrote in 4.4, two data retransmission has not been done yet. Please ask Katano san whether the data has arrived. 8.4 Terminators. Do not schedule terminators (ie, delete them manually) from the KSC contact interval if they should be scheduled there by OP_FIRST_GUESS. We are doing offpoints on each terminator opportunity. Please consult with the SXT chief observer for how this works, and refer to examples in the OPs from Week 12 for guidance in how to schedule the images. We are using the following offpoint OG's and are going through them in sequence cyclically. That is, change each time to the next number please: OG 35 S/C W10 S01 (all OG numbers are decimal) OG 36 S/C W04 N00 OG 85 S/C W03 N02 OG 86 S/C E04 N00 Do not use OG 87 until we clarify the safety issue. We were suggested by the tohban of previous week to use OG 34 in the top of the sequence above, OG 34 S/C W19 S01 because of the special operation on Friday, 31 Mar (see 6) we modified it. In case of using OG 34 as terminator image, PLEASE DO NOT FORGET TO REVISE THE OG!! 8.5 op_first_guess The commands for the contacts at the Wallops station had been inserted into OP's by hand. However, Lemen san revised 'op_first_guess', and now the commands are inserted automatically. It seems to work well.
