SSOC Tohban Report for Week 16_95 ( 17 APR - 24 APR 1995) SSOC : Nishio M., Irie M. KSC : Sakao, T., Yokoyama T. 1. Solar Activity ----------------------------------------------------- Flare acitvity was relatively high at late of this week. Highest GOES X-ray flare was M8-class which occured at about 12:00UT on Apr. 22. 2. Standard Operations ------------------------------------------------ 2.1 SXT Table Uploads : 5 times --------------------------------------------------------------------- KSC Time (start) Pass# Table ID --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18-APR-95 03:41 JST 1 950417 P1 ARS1 STD+LONG 18-APR-95 10:33 JST 5 950417 P5 ARS2 STD+LONG 19-APR-95 07:26 JST 3 950418 P3 ARS1 DKCAL 20-APR-95 02:37 JST 1 950419 P1 ARS1 STD+LONG 22-APR-95 03:16 JST 2 950421 P2 ARS1 STD --------------------------------------------------------------------- 2.2 STT Timer Set The STT Timer was set on pass #3 on Tuesday, 18-APR. The next setting will need to be on Tuesday, 25-APR. 2.3 S/C off pointing There were 3 offpointings in week 15. The performed time and day are as follows. 18 APR 07:26 - 07:50 UT : OG 86 S/C E04 N00 19 APR 10:59 - 11:22 UT : OG 34 S/C W17 N00 20 APR 08:03 - 08:26 UT : OG 35 S/C W10 S01 3. Errors & Problems ------------------------------------------------- 3.1 SXT and BCS errors The SXT "BITMAP ERROR" occurred just before LOS of Pass 5 on Thursday, 20_APR and was successfully recovered in Pass 1 on Friday, 21-Apr. The BCS "MEM CHECKSUM" error was detected in Pass 1 on Monday, 17-APR and was successfully recovered in Pass 2 (This error has also been reported at previous SSOC Tohban Report W15_95). 3.2 G150 trouble G150, for check of SXT table through KSC operation at KSC, had been having the trouble in data transmission since the beginning of week 15. G150 was repaired on Tuesday, 18-Apr. 3.3 Discrepancy of AOS timing between OP_FIRST_GUESS and AOSLOS list. AOS timing given by OP_FIRST_GUESS was delayed by the range from 30 sec to 1 min comparing with the time given by AOSLOS. Lemen san have checked the program of OP_FIRST_GUESS and found that the AOS on the command sheets is the time when the KSC antenna rises above 3.0 degrees. We have to decide whether we change the definition in the program or not. He said that he could easily change op_first_guess so that the reported AOS times is the time when the antenna goes above 0.0 degrees. 4. DSN Communications ------------------------------------------------------ 4.1 DSN Strawman Schedule for W19 We canceled 54 DSN contacts from the strawman schedule. 4.2 DSN Forecast Schedule for W18 We canceled 6 DSN contacts from the forecast schedule. 4.3 DSN Final Schedule for W17 There were no cancellations needed from the Yohkoh side. 4.4 Pass addition No pass addition request was needed in week 16. 5. YOHKOH/ASCA/SFU Pass Conflicts at KSC ------------------------------------ In week 16, we lost 7 KSC passes due to the ASCA conflicts. In week 17, 7 passes will be lost due to the ASCA/SFU conflicts, where 5 passes is due to ASCA conflict and 2 passes is due to the SFU conflicts. 6. Special operation ----------------------------------------------------- HRTS-IX rocket was lunched at 18:00UT on 18-APR. Support operations for the rocket flight were scheduled this week. However, the operations has been delayed because of relatively strong emission from AR 7863. 7. Holiday Schedule -------------------------------------------------- The next operation holiday will be on Sunday, 30-APR. The KSC operation from late night on Saturday, 29-APR to early morning on Sunday, 30-APR will be stopped. 8. Hikitsugi Items -------------------------------------------------- 8.1 Tohbans for Week 16 KSC : Yokoyama T., Kubo A. SSOC : Takano T., Sterling A. 8.2 STT timer setting The next STT timer set is due on Tuesday, 25-APR in UT (early morning on Wednesday, 26-APR in JST). 8.3 Terminators We are doing offpoints on each terminator opportunity. Please consult with the SXT chief observer for how this works, and refer to examples in the OPs from Week 12 for guidance in how to schedule the images. We are using the following offpoint OG's and are going through them in sequence cyclically. That is, change each time to the next number please: OG 34 S/C W17 N00 (all OG numbers are decimal) OG 35 S/C W10 S01 OG 36 S/C W04 N00 <------ next OG 85 S/C W03 N02 OG 86 S/C E04 N00 Do not use OG 33 and 87 until we clarify the safety issue. 8.4 Modification of OP_FIRST_GUESS AOS timing given by OP_FIRST_GUESS was delayed by the range from 30 sec to 1 min comparing with the time given by AOSLOS. Lemen san have checked the program of OP_FIRST_GUESS and found that the AOS on the command sheets is the time when the KSC antenna rises above 3.0 degrees. We have to decide whether we change the definition in the program or not.
