Errors & Problems ------------------------------------------------- 3.1 SXT and BCS errors None. 4. DSN Communications ------------------------------------------------------ 4.1 DSN Strawman Schedule for W21 We cancelled 19 DSN contacts from the strawman schedule for W21 on Monday. This has been postponed for "Golden week" holiday. 4.2 DSN Strawman Schedule for W22 We cancelled 20 DSN contacts from the strawman schedule for W22. We did not cancel any Santiago (DSS74) contacts. 4.3 DSN Forecast Schedule for W21 We cancelled 9 DSN contacts from the forecast schedule for W21. Originally, there were 33 contacts with DSS74 (Santiago) in Forecast Schedule. But they were deleted by JPL on 13-May because they are out of support time of Santiago Station. No ASUKA and YOHKOH passes will be scheduled for week 21 at Santiago. 4.4 DSN Final Schedule for W20 We cancelled 4 DSN contact from the final schedule for W20. 4.5 DSN Final Schedule for W19 We cancelled 5 DSN contact from the final schedule for W19. 4.6 Pass additions None. 5. YOHKOH/ASCA/SFU Pass Conflicts at KSC ---------------------------------- In week 19, we lost 5 KSC passes due to conflicts; four to ASCA and one to SFU. In week 20, 9 passes will be lost due to conflicts; eight to ASCA and one to SFU. 6. Special operation We have no special scientific operation last week. 7. Holiday Schedule The next holiday will be Sunday, 21 May. 8. English Tohban Manual The English Tohban manual has been updated. Please notify A. Sterling of any comments or suggestions for improvement. ************************************************************************** 9. Hikitsugi Items -------------------------------------------------- 9.1 Tohbans for Week 20 KSC : S. Yuda and Y. Kato SSOC : (Y. Wakabayashi) and K. Yoshimura 9.2 ASCA/SFU pass conflicts (KSC) Please contact Nagase-san (ex.2611) on Thursday to decide when and how to negotiate week 21 pass conflicts with ASCA. Please contact with Hara-san also because he have to attend the meeting to discuss about Santiago operation. 9.3 DSS-74(Santiago) and KSC pass conflicts for Strawman Schedule On Thursday's negotiation about KSC pass conflicts for W21 , we will also discuss about pass conflicts at Santiago station on W22 strawman schedule. At that time, discussion about Santiago passes will be based upon situation of KSC pass conflicts. SSOC Tohban may be required to check the pass conflicts on W22 also. Please consult with Hara san. 9.4 Strawman cancel for week 23 The meeting for week 23 strawman cancellations will be held on this Friday (19 May) as usual. 9.5 STT timer setting The next STT timer set is due on Tuesday, 16 May. 9.6 Tonight's OP and Pass Sheets Tonight's OP has already transferred to KSC on Sunday. Pass sheet and hardcopy of OP have already faxed to KSC. 9.7 Campaign Contact. The DSN contact on 15 May 18:39-18:50 (UT) at DSN-66 should be kept for a YOHKOH downlink because of a NASA rocket experiment for solar observations. 9.8 Terminators. The terminator-offpointing program will be continued this week. The SSOC tohbans will be required to manually insert the off-point OGs for the terminators into the OP tables following to suggestion by SXT_CO. After OP_FIRST GUESS, SSOC tohbans should send drafts of OP to SXT_CO at D-tou. SXT_CO will send a request about terminators and associated offpoints if necessary. We are using the following offpoint OG's and are going through them in sequence cyclically. That is, change each time to the next number please: OG 33 S/C W19 S01 (all OG numbers are decimal) OG 34 S/C W17 N00 OG 35 S/C W10 S01 OG 36 S/C W04 N00 OG 85 S/C W03 N02 OG 86 S/C E04 N00 OG 87 S/C E18 N00 10 Others 10.1 Santiago station issue Downlink at Santiago station will be available from about the end of May. Expected contact time for Santiago station is very close to KSC pass. Then, it shuold be useful when KSC contact is lost owing to conflict with ASCA/SFU . Hara san is making various efforts about this item. 10.2 Notice from Jose.Valencia@jpl.nasa.gov We received a notice about DSS74(Santiago) support hour. The RASM schedule will not include passes out of support hour of Santiago. Whole message is attached at the end of this report. 10.3 CDR Test We received a message about engineering test for Central Data Recorder, new equipment of DSN. Message is attached at the end of report. No reply was sent from SSOC Tohban, yet. 10.4 Notice from ISAS network maneger Upgrade (1.5Mbps -> 3Mbps) of network link from ISAS to DENTSU-Univ. will be done on 15. Notification about this issue clipped on the white-board on B-2F. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- --JPLxxxccMailxxxSMTPxxxID2250gc46x Content-Type: Text/Plain; CharSet=US-ASCII Content-Description: Text_1 Dear Sir, As you may be aware, the DSN is in an engineering test phase of a new piece of data records handling equipment called the Central Data Recorder (CDR). The CDR is located at JPL and is planned to be the prime source for all playbacks of data to the external projects. We would like to test the functionality of the CDR by sending you a duplicate playback of a particular YOHKOH support. If possible we would like you to then do a comparison of the original data set, and the data set sent to from the CDR, and respond on the quality of the data. Please respond if you would be willing to support this test. Upon receipt of your response, I will send you another message with detail on the track we will use, and the expected playback sets we will send you. Thank you for all your efforts recently with our testing. Your extra support has been very valuable to our engineering team. Thank You, Scott Stein --JPLxxxccMailxxxSMTPxxxID2250gc46x-- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Sir, Listed bellow is a copy of a list of ASUKA and YOHKOH DSS74 view periods for week 21. Because of an oversight the list was inadvertently posted in the RASM account. Please note, none of the support times listed for week 21 fall within Santiago's support hours therefore, no ASUKA and YOHKOH passes will be scheduled for week 21 at Santiago. In the future the posted RASM schedule will include only those ASUKA and YOHKOH support times which are within DSS74 support hours. We regret any confusion or inconvenience this may have caused. Be advised; Santiago's committed support hours are: 1300z to 2345z Monday through Thursday, and 1245 to 2330z Friday through Sunday. Please note, Santiago's combined ASTRO-D and SOLAR-A daily coverage is not to exceed 3HRS total. This includes time allocated for Pre-cals, Post-cals, and reduced post-pass Playbacks. Regards, Jose Valencia
