SSOC Tohban Report for Week 22_95 (29 May - 4 June 1995) SSOC: Marubashi,K.,Okubo,A. KSC : Ishii,T.,Fujisaki,K. WOM Attendance: N. Nitta, J. Khan, H. Hudson, T. Sakao, R. Kano, Te. Watanabe, H. Hara, K. Morimoto, M. Sawa, K. Yaji, M. Nishio, M. Shimojo, A. Okubo, K. Marubashi 1. Solar Activity ----------------------------------------------------- Solar activity was generally low throughout Week 22. The largest flare of the week from GOES observations was B2.4. June 02, 0953 UT (Max). 2. Standard Operations ------------------------------------------------ 2.1 SXT Table Uploads : 5 times --------------------------------------------------------------------- KSC Time (start) Pass# Table ID --------------------------------------------------------------------- 30-MAY-95 09:00 JST 2 950529 P2 ARS1 STD+LONG 31-MAY-95 07:37 JST 1 950530 P1 ARS1 STD+LONG 1-JUN-95 11:22 JST 4 950531 P4 ARS1 STD+LONG 2-JUN-95 09:58 JST 3 950601 P3 ARS0 FILAMENT 3-JUN-95 10:18 JST 4 950602 P4 AOS1 STD+LONG ------------------------------------------------------------------- Every time a block command "BC 8C 05" was also uploaded . This is for dumping SXT patrol images. 2.2 STT Timer Setting The STT Timer was set on 30-May (Tue) Pass #2 (950530-0001). The next setting is due on Tuesday, 6-June. 3. Errors & Problems ------------------------------------------------- 3.1 SXT and BCS errors None. 3.2 BDR problem There happened an anomalous thing with BDR or BDR-Monitor, on pass 3 during Friday operation. (1) The BDR-monitoring oscilloscope kept showing the BDR "PAUSE" state 20 sec after a time lapse enough for finishing "REP", while the QL-screen indicated BDR went to STBY mode. (2) The action the KSC took was to send "REP" command, with a suspicion that BDR had stopped just before the end of recorded data. As a result, Yohkoh left the KSC contact with BDR in REP state. (3) BDR turned into "REC" state soon, thanks to the "CYEND REC" command in the KSC LOS OG. On the next contact, pass 5, KSC found the BDR was in REC state as usual. (This interpretation may not be correct. Later checks of the playback data can help us to see what actually happened.) (4) KSC could not find anything wrong with the BDR Monitor by later checks. Conclusion: We don't know why this happend. ---- Decision at WOM: Watanabe-sensei will follow up further investigation. 4. DSN Communications ------------------------------------------------------ 4.1 DSN Strawman Schedule for W25 The Strawman Schedule for W25 was not available until Saturday morning because of some trouble in JPL. Hudson-san contacted JPL by phone for SSOC Tohban. See Hikitsugi Items(8.4). 4.2 DSN Forecast Schedule for W24 We got the Forecast Schedule for W24 in the morning June 3 (See 4.1). We cancelled 23 DSN contacts from the forecast schedule for W24. 4.3 DSN Final Schedule for W22 We cancelled 4 DSN contacts from the final schedule for W22. They are all Santiago contact, and the cancellations were in accordance with WOM 0f May 29. DSN cancelled 3 contacts at DSS 46 because of STRIKING. 4.4 DSN Final Schedule for W23 We cancelled 5 DSN contacts with maximum elevation angle < 10 deg from the final schedule for W23. All of 7 contacts at Santiago Station are retained in the current version. For reference, Solass.w23;1 became available at 14:00 JST, June 01 (Thur.). 4.5 Pass additions None. 4.6 Re-transmission requests We sent re-transmission requests repeatedly for the data, (1) DSS 46, 139/20:43-139/20:51; (2) DSS 46, 141/21:51-22:02; (3) DSS 46, 141/23:36- 141/23:46. 4.7 Other communications (1) Data from pass 0844 & 0846 were completely lost due to a complex wide commercial power failure at Goldstone (See fax 22-I-2). (2) DSN wants an input on the quality of the data recorded at Santiago (E-mail to Lemen, See 22-I-4). 5. YOHKOH/ASCA/SFU Pass Conflicts at KSC ---------------------------------- In week 23, there exist 10 conflicts with ASCA. 5 passes will be lost due the conflicts. 6. Special operation None. 7. Holiday Schedule The next holiday will be Sunday, 11 June. ************************************************************************** 8. Hikitsugi Items -------------------------------------------------- 8.1 Tohbans for Week 23 KSC : K.Fujisaki and M.Ohyama SSOC : M.Nishio and M.Shimojo 8.2 ASCA/SFU pass conflicts (KSC) Please contact Nagase-san (ex.2611) on Thursday(13:30) to decide when and how to negotiate week 24 pass conflicts with ASCA. Toward the regular use of Santiago Station, we'll soon need to negotiate KSC schedules up to 3 weeks ahead. 8.3 DSS-74(Santiago) passes During the week 22, there are 7 Santiago stations in the final scedule. SSOC tobans for week 23 may have to delete some of them by the real-time cancellations. 8.4 Strawman cancel for week 25 The meeting for week 25 strawman schedule cancellations was postponed till this Monday (6 June), because the schedule was not available on last Friday. 8.5 STT timer setting The next STT timer set is due on Tuesday, 6 June. 8.6 Terminators. The terminator-offpointing program will be continued this week. The SSOC tohbans will be required to manually insert the off-point OGs for the terminators into the OP tables following to suggestion by SXT_CO. After OP_FIRST_GUESS, SSOC tohbans should send drafts of OP to SXT_CO at D-tou. SXT_CO will send a request about terminators and associated offpoints if necessary. The SXT_CO wants to have outputs of OP_FIRST_ GUESS for coming 7 days in afvance, data for Tuesday and Wednesday on Monday, and the remaining part after getting new orbital elements. We are using the following offpoint OG's and are going through them in sequence cyclically. That is, change each time to the next number please: OG 33 S/C W19 S01 (all OG numbers are decimal) OG 34 S/C W17 N00 OG 35 S/C W10 S01 OG 36 S/C W04 N00 OG 85 S/C W03 N02 OG 86 S/C E04 N00 OG 87 S/C E18 N00
