SSOC Tohban Report for Week 28_95 (10 July - 17 July 1995) SSOC : Hori , Nagata KSC : Tonooka , Magara 1. Solar Activity ----------------------------------------------------- Solar activity remained very low. There was no flare greater than B2 from AR7887,AR7889, and AR7890. 2. Standard Operations ------------------------------------------------ 2.1 SXT Table Uploads : 2 tables --------------------------------------------------------------------- KSC Time (start:JST=UT+9) Pass# Table ID --------------------------------------------------------------------- 12-JUL-95 (14:38) 3 950712 P3 ARS1 DKCAL 13-JUL-95 (13:14) 3 950713 P3 ARS1 STD+LONG --------------------------------------------------------------------- Although filament campaign has continued, there was no FILAMENT observation in this week. Because filament activity was not too expecting and also due to a hardware problem at Mees. *Every time a block command "BC 8C 05(HEX)" was also uploaded. This is for dumping SXT patrol images. 2.2 STT Timer Setting Executed on 17(Mon) July, Pass 1 (in UT; 950716-1446). Next STT Timer should be set on 19(Wed) July. ^^^^^^^^^ 3. Errors & Problems ------------------------------------------------- 3.1 BCS Error Two BCS errors (BCS Memory CheckSum Error) were detected on 10(Mon) at Pass 1 and on 14(Wed) at Pass 3, respectively. For each of them, successful BCS Recovery plan was carried out in the same pass. 3.2 SXT Error SXT Bitmap Error occurred on 12(Wed) at Pass 1 , and was recovered immediately by KSC tobans by Yobi-C command. 3.3 DATA Lost at Goldstone station Because the link controller failed to enter the necessary command to place the assigned TGC channel into "Record mode", consequently all data on DOY 190/2209-2253 at DSS-16 were lost. 3.4 SSOC/KSC TOHBAN's mistakes (1) PFI DATA KSC tohban reported that they could not find incoming PFI data during a few passes per day. But this problem happened due to their simple mistake. Hudson san and Alexander san checked the reformatted data of corresponding passes at ISAS and found no trouble. (2) KSC AOS with QT-ME In the first pass on 15(Sat), YOHKOH appeared with the state of QT-M(QuieT mode Medium) which should be QT-H(High). SSOC/KSC double check miss for OP sheet of 14(Fri) caused this wrong DP mode. (3) OP TRANSFER After the last pass of KSC on 14(Fri), SSOC tohban sent next day's OP to KSC by FACOM while ASCA tracking was carrying. Whether this problem is mistake or not is discussed at YOHKOH meeting on 17(Mon). 4. DSN Communications ------------------------------------------------------ 4.1 DSN Strawman Schedule for W31 We cancelled 54 DSN contacts from the strawman schedule for W31. 4.2 DSN Forecast Schedule for W30 We cancelled 40 DSN contacts from the forecast schedule for W30. 4.3 DSN Final Schedule for W29 We cancelled 1 DSN contacts from the final schedule for W29. We cancelled 6 playback data transfer also for W29 by mistake, requested them again. (see 4.7) 4.4 DSN Final Schedule for W28 We required 3 "real-time cancelation" for W28 in last week. This is because of TDRSS-7 support(Space Shuttle Payload) beginning on 13(thu). We gat an e-mail from JPL(Jose Valencia) on 12(Wed) and it said that if STS-70 launch is successful, 3 DSN passes listed bellow will be deleted to facilitate STS-70/TDRSS-7 support; 195,SOLA,16,1837,1922,TKG PASS,0000,C014,-,1A1 195,SOLA,16,2021,2101,TKG PASS,0000,C014,-,1A1 197,SOLA,46,1152,1237,TKG PASS,0000,C014,-,1A1 After confirming success of the launch (Sterling san helped us,SSOC tohban), we sent KSC OP without the 3 passes one hour before the 1st KSC Pass on 14(fri). But the message from JPL was mistake!! TDRSS supports have been scheduled at DSS17. JPL apologized to us for their wrong mail on 15(Sat). 4.5 Re-transmission Requests We sent the re-transmission request for data as follows; DSS DOY/ EOT- BOT DSS DOY/ EOT- BOT -------------------- -------------------- DSS 66 173/0023-0034 DSS 16 175/0523-0534 DSS 16 187/2319-2328 DSS 16 188/0246-0255 DSS 76 186/0217-0225 DSS 46 187/1555-1606 DSS 76 179/0019-0031 DSS 16 185/0023-0032 DSS 76 194/1528-1537 So far we have distinguished datum by their "BOT/EOT" when we requersted re-transmission to DSN, but according to Katano-san, operator of DSN seems to have changed to another person and he/she can't accept that way. So Katano-san changed layout of request sheet to distinguish them by their "start/end" time. 4.6 START/STOP Time in Post-Pass/Transmission Report The START/STOP time of the several Post-Pass/Transmission Report received in W27 were the planned START/STOP times of the DSN operation instead of the actual dump times used before. Katano_san was confused in this case and we requested JPL to use the former START/STOP time. They responded it after 6(Thu) July. 4.7 Inadvertent Cancellation on Final Schedule We inadvertently cancelled 6 PLBK's for w29 final scedule on 13(Thu). This wrong cancellation was accepted by RASM during that day. Unfotunately we didn't realise this mistake untill 15(Sat) evening. Tsuneta-sensei helped us to come through this difficulty and we colud send fax to DSN Real-Time OPS to request these cancelled activities cn 15(Sat) night. At last this request was accepted. 4.8 RASM User Survey We gat an e-mail from RASM ( Brent Burgess) on 11(Tue) about the improvement of interface capabilities by utilizing the Internet. These services will be alternate methods for submitting and receiving scheduling information. The RASM dial-back system will continue to exist and function. One new interface will allow scheduling requests to be submitted by using SMTP E-mail. This will symplify the process for those users who protocol. This will provide a graphical "point- and-click" interface for projects to submit and receive scheduling information by using Web Browser software such as Mosaic or Netscape. They plan to implement these capabilities by Octoober 1, 1995. 5. YOHKOH/ASCA/SFU Pass Conflicts at KSC ---------------------------------- In week 28, 6 KSC passes were lost because of the conflicts with ASCA. Preparing the schedule for week 29, we found 16 conflicts with ASCA. 8 of them will be lost. There is no conflict between Yohkoh passes and SFU ones during these two weeks. 6. Special Operation------------------------------------------------------- 6.1 Offset Pointing (Terminator Images) 10-JUL-95 03:49 OG87 10-JUL-95 06:26 OG87 10-JUL-95 08:40 OG87 10-JUL-95 11:54 OG87 10-JUL-95 15:09 OG87 10-JUL-95 16:46 OG87 10-JUL-95 20:01 OG87 10-JUL-95 21:38 OG87 11-JUL-95 02:30 OG33 11-JUL-95 04:07 OG33 11-JUL-95 07:21 OG33 11-JUL-95 17:05 OG33 11-JUL-95 18:42 OG33 11-JUL-95 20:19 OG33 12-JUL-95 02:48 OG34 12-JUL-95 07:40 OG34 12-JUL-95 09:17 OG34 12-JUL-95 12:31 OG34 12-JUL-95 17:23 OG34 13-JUL-95 14:27 OG35 13-JUL-95 04:44 OG35 14-JUL-95 05:02 OG36 14-JUL-95 09:54 OG36 14-JUL-95 11:31 OG36 15-JUL-95 03:43 OG36 7. Holiday Schedule ---------------------------------------------------- The next holiday will be Sunday, 23 July. 8. Attendance of the MON(Monday Operation Meeting) on 10(mon) July Alexander, Hara, Hori, Kaano, Kosugi, Kubo Ogawara, Sakao, Shimojo, Sterling, Watanabe, Yaji (alphabetical order) ************************************************************************** 8. Hikitsugi Items 8.1 Tohbans for Week 29 (July 17 - July 22) KSC : Magara and Matsuda SSOC : Kubo and Shibata 8.2 ASCA/SFU Pass Conflicts (KSC) Toward the regular use of Santiago Station, we negotiate KSC schedules up to 3 weeks ahead. The weekly meeting with ASCA/SFU is held by Nagase-san (ex.2611) on Thursday from 13:30 on A-6F. In this meeting, please fix final KSC schedule on week 30 and negotiate about KSC pass conflicts with ASCA/SFU on week 32. 8.3 DSS-74(Santiago) Passes As data transmission from Santiago station was corect, operations for Sntiago station are done in the same way as other DSN stations since week 24. Note that Yohkoh and ASCA share at most 2 Santiago contacts in a day, because of the limitation of the operation time in Santiago. Santiago's committed support hours are 1300 to 2345 UT Monday through Thursday, and 1245 to 2330 UT Friday through Sunday. 8.4 DSS-74(Santiago) Transmitted Data Although the data seem OK now, SSOC tohbans should still be careful and send DSN detailed reasons when problems happen. 8.5 STT Timer setting The next STT timer setting should be set on 19(Wed). 8.6 Intermediate Data Record So far Post-Pass / Transimmision reports have never contained the Intermediate Data Record from Sntiago and Wallops since these stations started. 8.7 Terminators. The terminator-offpointing program will be continued this week. The SSOC tohbans will be required to manually insert the off-point OGs for the terminators into the OP tables following to suggestion by SXT_CO. After OP_FIRST_GUESS, SSOC tohbans should send drafts of OP to SXT_CO at D-tou. SXT_CO will send a request about terminators and associated offpoints if necessary. We are using the following offpoint OG's and are going through them in sequence cyclically. That is, change each time(day) to the next number please: OG 33 S/C W03 N00 (all OG numbers are decimal) OG 34 S/C W17 N00 OG 35 S/C W10 S01 OG 36 S/C W04 N00 OG 85 S/C W02 N17 OG 86 S/C W19 N01 OG 87 S/C W16 N00 -------------------------- END of REPORT ------------------- Thank you for your assistance!
