Solar Activity ----------------------------------------------------- Solar activity still remained low. However, there were, at least, 6 B class flares in a week, and some jets were succesfully observed by PFI. Many of them occurred in AR 7890. There were numerous bright points, and sometimes large scale coronal eruptions (though not bright) occurred. 2. Errors & Problems ------------------------------------------------- 3.1 BCS Error One BCS error was detected on 19 (Wed) during Pass 4. Successful BCS Recovery plan was carried out during the same pass. 3.2 SXT Error None. 4. DSN Communications ------------------------------------------------------ 4.1 DSN Strawman Schedule for W32 We cancelled 35 DSN contacts from the strawman schedule for W31. 4.2 DSN Forecast Schedule for W31 No cancellation was requested. 4.3 DSN Final Schedule for W30 We cancelled 1 DSN contact from the final schedule for W30. 4.4 DSN Final Schedule for W29 No cancellation was requested. 5. YOHKOH/ASCA/SFU Pass Conflicts at KSC ---------------------------------- In week 29, 8 KSC passes were lost because of the conflicts with ASCA. Preparing the schedule for week 30, we found 10 conflicts with ASCA. 6 of them will be lost. There is no conflict between Yohkoh passes and SFU ones during these two weeks. 6. (1) IMPORTANT ! Sakao san reported that: The transfer of OP to KSC should not be done during ASCA operation. (2) In Friday morning, SSOC toban could not send the op_first_guess file from flare1 to main frame, 1-go-ki (when 2-go-ki was down). So they used the following way; ftp from 1-go-ki to flare6 to flare1 to get the op_first_guess file. (3) SSOC toban could not use the goes_summary (plot_goes, as well) command in IDL.
