 1. Solar Activity ---------------------------------------------------------
 
  Solar activity was very low this week.  According to the bearalert, the spots
  appeard this week in AR3506 may be the first of the new cycle.

 2. Standard Operations ----------------------------------------------------

   2.2 STT Timer Setting

        Set on 7 August (Mon), Pass 2. Next STT Timer  should  be  set  on
        15  August (Tue).

 3. Errors & Problems ------------------------------------------------------

   3.1 BCS Error.
        One BCS error was detected on 8(Tue) during Pass 1.
        The BCS Recovery plan was carried out in the same pass.

   3.2 SXT Error.

        None reported since last month.


   3.3 File Transfer error

        On Monday (7-aug), flare11 failed in ftping to and from the main
        frame machine after the network configuration was changed.  It was
        fixed immediately.

   3.4 KSC power outage

        KSC operation in Pass 4 on 10 (Thu) was cancelled due to the
        power outage caused by a thunder storm.  There was no damage
        regarding the computer system there.


 4. DSN Communications ------------------------------------------------------

   4.1 DSN Strawman Schedule for W35

        9 DSN contacts were cancelled from the strawman schedule for w35.
        5 out of 9 were due to the conflict with ASCA.
  
   4.2 DSN Forecast Schedule for W34

        6 DSN contacts were cancelled from the forecast schedule for w34.

   4.3 DSN Final Schedule for W33

        1 DSN contact was cancelled from the final schedule for w33.

   4.4 Real-time cancellations for W31

        None.


 5. YOHKOH/ASCA/SFU Pass Conflicts at KSC ----------------------------------

        For W32, 5 KSC passes were lost because of the conflicts with ASCA,
        and 1 KSC pass was lost because of a thunder storm (see 3.4).

        For W33, 7 KSC passes will be lost.

        There are no current pass conflicts between Yohkoh/ASCA and SFU.

 6. Special Operation

         None.

 7. Holiday Schedule
 
         Next holiday will be 21-Aug (Sun).

 8. Attendance at the Weekly Operations  Meeting of 14 August (Monday)

         Operetaion meeting was not scheduled this week.

   9.2 STT Timer setting

        The next STT timer setting should be done on 15-Aug (Tue).

   9.3 SXT patrol image dumps ( from last week's report )

        The clock command "BC 8C 05(HEX)" should be uploaded with each table
        change.  This is to dump an SXT patrol image for reference.

   9.4 OP_FIRST_GUESS ( from last week's report )

        There were a couple of misses of DP rate switches in SAA. The tohbans
        should be alert for this. It is probably a bug in the logic of
        Lemen_san's very complicated program, and if it does not happen
        very often I suggest we wait until he returns to Japan to get it
        fixed.
