SSOC Tohban Report for Week 34_95 (21 August - 27 August 1995) SSOC: Y. Hanaoka, S. Ueno KSC : J. Sato, K. Hori Attendance of the WOM (Weekly Operation Meeting) on 28 (mon) August Sterling, Weber, Slater, Yaji, Hara, Hudson, Watanabe, Sawa, Shibasaki, Kosugi, Sakao, Ogawara, Hanaoka, Ueno 1. Solar Activity ----------------------------------------------------- Solar activity was low in the first half of this week, staying at lower part of GOES A-level. However, in the latter half, the activity became slightly high mainly in the regions #7901 and #7902. There were a few C-flares. Hiraiso people forecasts that this activity will be kept till the first half of the next week. 2. Standard Operations ------------------------------------------------ 2.1 SXT Table Uploads : 6 tables --------------------------------------------------------------------- KSC Time (start:JST=UT+9) Pass# Table ID --------------------------------------------------------------------- 21-Aug-95 (17:33) 2 950821 P2 ARS1 DARKCAL 22-Aug-95 (17:52) 3 950822 P3 ARS1 STD+LONG 23-Aug-95 (18:11) 3 950823 P3 ARS1 STD+LONG 24-Aug-95 (15:05) 2 950824 P2 ARS0 DARKCAL 25-Aug-95 (15:24) 2 950825 P2 ARS0 POLAR 25-Aug-95 (18:50) 4 950825 P4 ARS1 STD+LONG --------------------------------------------------------------------- Every time a block command "BC 8C 05" was also executed. This is for dumping SXT patrol images. 2.2 STT Timer Setting The STT Timer was set on 22 Aug (in the pass 950822-0825). The next setting is due on 29 Aug (Tuesday). 3. Errors & Problems ------------------------------------------------- 3.1 Bit-map error SXT Bit-map error was detected on 25 Aug, Pass 1. It was recovered successfully in the same pass. 3.2 BCS error A BCS error was found on 26 Aug, Pass1. It was recovered in the Passes 1 and 2. 3.3 Disconnection by lightning The connection between SSOC and KSC (used for OP transmissions) was disconnected by a strike of lightning in the evening of 22 Aug. However, the connection was recovered in the morning on 23 Aug, so there is no trouble to send OP's to KSC. 3.4 DSN Data 1) The data from YOHKOH obtained at Madrid on 30 July hasn't been sent to SSOC, yet. This problem is being investigeted by Slater san. Not Sent Data; 30-Jul-95 211 M 02:22-02:30 2) Wallops could not perform the operation due to a hurricane on 17 Aug and 18 Aug. So, the data which was planned to be received there at that time was completely lost. Lost Data; 17-Aug-95 229 W 01:02-01:10 17-Aug-95 229 W 02:43-02:53 18-Aug-95 230 W 01:20-01:30 3) The data obtained at Wallops on 24 Aug (22:26-22:37) was sent to SSOC as the data of ASCA. However, this data was already moved into YOHKOH data. Mistaken Data; 24-Aug-95 236 W 22:26-22:37 3.5 Error of op_first_guess ? In this week, when we made the OP for the Sat-Sun operation by op_first_guess, we found the 'OP Stop' command in the midst of the OP, not at the end (no 'OP Stop' at the end). We corrected it manually. This seems a bug of 'op_first_guess', but please confirm (and fix) it. 4. DSN Communications ------------------------------------------------------ 4.1 DSN Strawman Schedule for W37 We cancelled 36 DSN contacts from the strawman schedule for W37. 4.2 DSN Forecast Schedule for W36 We cancelled 2 DSN contacts from the forecast schedule for W36. 4.3 DSN Final Schedule for W35 None. 4.4 DSN Final Schedule for W34 None. 4.5 Pass additions None. 5. YOHKOH/ASCA/SFU Pass Conflicts at KSC ---------------------------------- For W34, 9 KSC passes were lost because of the conflicts with ASCA. The current pattern is that for a couple of days the orbits are almost exactly out of phase, but in the following two more days the orbits are nearly perfectly in conflict. There are no current pass conflicts between Yohkoh/ASCA and SFU. 6. Special operation Offset Pointing ( for terminator images ) Offpoint terminator images (E08 S17) were taken with the thin aluminum filter(Al.1) on 21 Aug. However, because of the new problem of the filters, the offpoint OG's were not added thereafter. 7. Holiday Schedule The next holiday will be Sunday, 3 September. ************************************************************************** 9. Hikitsugi Items -------------------------------------------------- 9.1 Tohbans for Week 34 KSC : K. Hori and M. Nishio SSOC : K. Shibasaki and K. Yaji 9.2 STT timer setting The next STT timer set is due in the evening of Tuesday, 29 Aug (JST). 9.3 OP_FIRST_GUESS ( from last week's report ) A couple of misses of DP rate switches in SAA have been reported in the output of 'op_first_guess'. In the week 34 no problem is found about the DP rate switches, but the tohbans should take care about this item. 9.4 SXT patrol image dumps ( from last week's report ) The block command "BC 8C 05(HEX)" should be executed with each table change. This is to dump an SXT patrol image for reference. 9.5 Offpoint terminator images The terminator-offpointing program was given a pause in the last week. However, the general rule is as follows; when SSOC tohbans make a draft OP with SXT CMPN OBS's by 'op_first_guess', they should send the draft OP to the SXT_CO in D-toh via fax and consult him whether the offpoint OG's are to be inserted or not. If there are SXT_CO's requests, he send back a fax of requests, and SSOC tohbans will be required to manually insert the offpoint OGs into the OP tables. 9.6 E-mail Yohkoh Operation Report from KSC Since 10 Aug 1995, KSC YOHKOH tohbans have sent via e-mail to flare1, SSOC, besides faxes. SSOC tohbans save this report into the directory 'yohkoh/ops_rep/' with the filename as, for example, '950828.rep'. 9.7 RASM password The former password was expired on 26 Aug. A new password was set. ---------------------------------------------- END of REPORT
