See section 6.2 for details. 3. Errors and Problems ------------------------------------------------------- 3.1 SXT error None. 3.2 BCS error None. 3.3 Operations failure On Nov. 22, KSC tohbans suffered from operations failure: (1) At the AOS of pass 2, DP mode was QT-H although the OP sheet said it would be ACS-H. KSC tohbans dispatched ACS MOD H command manually in preparation for the coming S/C night. (2) At the AOS of pass 4, S/C antenna was set to B (with KSC-AOS-B-NT OG prepared by the OP_FIRST_GUESS) although the command sheet said that the antenna would be A for the whole contact, which made KSC tohbans suppose that no antenna change was necessary. Due to this wrong antenna selection, signal receiving level (with antenna B) significantly lowered during BDR Repro. and part of the reproduced data was lost though KSC tohbans quickly switched the antenna from B to A. Both of the above mistakes were caused by SSOC tohbans. (1) was caused by inappropriate usage of the OPOG editor (KSC-transferred OP and printed-out OP was not consistent) and (2) by insufficient checking of the antenna selection with AOSLOS printouts. SSOC tohbans apologize for these low-quality operations. 4. DSN Communications -------------------------------------------------------- 4.1 Final schedule for W47 No DSN contact was real-time-cancelled from W47 final schedule. 4.2 Final schedule for W48 No DSN contact was cancelled from W48 final schedule. 4.3 Preliminary schedule for W49 Five DSN passes were cancelled from W49 preliminary schedule. 4.4 Strawman schedule for W50 Nine DSN passes were ancelled from W50 strawman schedule. 4.5 Pass additions None. 4.6 Re-transmission requests and results Katano-san repeatedly requested re-transmission of the following pass: 12-Nov-95 05:33-05:45 Wallops It turned out that this pass was NOT supported due to Wallops' supporting RadarSAT launch. So Yohkoh data downlinked during this pass was lost. The following DSN data has arrived in response to Katano-san's request: 10-Nov-95 03:29-03:40 Madrid 5. Yohkoh/Asca/SFU Pass Conflicts at KSC ------------------------------------- In week 47, 6 KSC passes were lost due to conflict with ASCA. 6. Special Operations -------------------------------------------------------- 6.1 SXT CCD bakeout SXT CCD bakeout was carried out as follows: ------------------------------ Date Pass Content ------------------------------ Nov.22 3 TEC OFF 4 TSA Heater ON Nov.23 2 TSA Heater OFF 3 TEC ON ------------------------------ 6.2 SXT terminator offpoint OGs upload We prepared the following 5 OGs for SXT terminator offpoints following SXT_CO's request in the previous operations meeting: ------------------------------------------------------------ OG# (dec) Content ACS BC ------------------------------------------------------------ 33 S/C W.104 N.443 81-F9-E0-01-F3-00-00 34 S/C W.127 N.312 81-FA-07-01-EC-00-00 35 S/C W.153 S.026 81-FA-6D-01-E4-00-00 36 S/C W.258 S.144 81-FA-90-01-C5-00-00 85 S/C W.205 S.472 81-FA-F3-01-D5-00-00 ------------------------------------------------------------ These OGs were uploaded in pass 1 of Nov. 22 (around 10:00 UT). 7. Holiday Schedule ---------------------------------------------------------- 7.1 Next holiday Next holiday will be on Sunday, 3-Dec-95. 7.2 New year holidays The last operation of this year will be around 10:00 JST on Dec.28. New year holidays begin from Dec. 28 PM (JST). As for the beginning of Yohkoh operations in 1996, it is not yet fixed whether we start from Jan. 3 evening or from Jan. 4 evening; ASCA people are going to consult with KSC-supporting company personnels to fix the date (although they once decided to start from Jan. 3) and will inform us at the beginning of this week. Yohkoh will resume operations on the same day as ASCA. 8. Hikitsugi Items ----------------------------------------------------------- 8.1 Tohbans for W48 KSC: K.Shibata and Y.Suematsu SSOC: H.Miyazaki and K.Fujiki 8.2 STT timer setting The next STT timer set is due on 1-Dec-95 (Fri). 8.3 New year holidays schedule At the beginning of this week new year holidays schedule will be fixed. The schedule will be informed from Nagase san of ASCA to SSOC tohbans. Please contact him for more information, if necessary. 8.4 Request from JPL on Yohkoh schedule change SSOC tohbans received the following e-mail from Jose Valencia of JPL. ..................................................................... Date: 21 Nov 1995 14:31:38 -0800 From: "Jose Valencia" To: "katano@flare1.solar.isas.ac.jp", "lemen@isass1.solar.isas.ac.jp", "yohkoh@flare1.solar.isas.ac.jp" Cc: "Donna E Dillard" , "Bruce W Pivar" , "Stefan Waldherr" , "Leonard F Weinberg" Subject: YOHKOH schedule change requests. Dear Sir, The preferred method to communicate YOHKOH schedule change requests is by either E:mail or RASM. If FAX transmission is necessary the YOHKOH schedule changes must be sent to 584-4516 which is located within the DSN scheduling department. Please note; Schedule change requests must no longer be sent to 393-0612 which is the NOCC. Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated. Regards, Jose Valencia. ...................................................................... 8.5 Offpoint terminator images If terminators apper in the OP generated by running OP_FIRST_GUESS, then the OP should be FAXed to the SXT_CO (Chief Observer) in D-toh. The SXT_CO will then inform the SSOC tohbans if offpointing will be carried out. If so, the OP will need be edited appropriately. 8.6 Transmission of OPs You no longer need to confirm transmission of OP/OG files to KSC by the MS console in the B-toh 3rd floor. Instead, if you or KSC tohbans notice any failure in transmitting the OP/OG files, please record creation/transmission times of the files and report them to Shuto-san and Kosugi-san. (c.f. W44_95 SSOC Tohban Report Appendix-A) 8.7 SXT patrol image dumps A block command `DP BC 8C-05 (hex)' should be executed whenever an SXT Table is uploaded. Since the sun is very quiet, ARS parameters need be checked by SXT patrol images dumped by this command. 8.8 KSC-LOS OG for the second (next) day KSC passes In preparing draft OPs with the OP_FIRST_GUESS, we sometimes encountered the well-reported QUIET RATE HI/MED confusion in KSC-LOS OGs for the second (next) day KSC passes. However, we may be able to carefully check the draft OPs and choose the appropriate bitrate in each case. This problem does not seriously affect S/C operations. ------------------------------- End of Report ---------------------------------
