SSOC Tohban Report for Week 09, 1996 (26 February - 3 March 1996) SSOC: S. UeNo, S. Tsuneta KSC : S. Morita, S. Kubo 0. Meeting Attendants -------------------------------------------------------- Ueno, Shimojo, Hara, Watanebe, Sakao, Sterling, Nitta 1. Solar Activity ------------------------------------------------------------ Solar activity hardly changed. Though there were a few small active regions, the GOES soft X-ray level has been around level-A. NOAA 7948 is disappearing on the west limb. On the other hand, we cannot see any active region on the east limb. 2. Standard Operations ------------------------------------------------------- 2.1 SXT table uploads 4 SXT tables were uploaded: Date (JST) Pass# Table ID ------------------------------------------------- 28-FEB-96 00:40 3 960227 P3 ARS2 DKCAL+AR 29-FEB-96 02:43 4 960228 P4 ARS0 N POL+DIF 29-FEB-96 21:52 2 960229 P2 ARS0 N POL+JET 02-MAR-96 22:30 3 960302 P3 ARS1 STD+LONG ------------------------------------------------- 2.2 STT timer setting STT Timer was set on 27-FEB-96 (JST) during pass 1 (ID: 960227-0825). 2.3 SXT terminator images and S/C offset pointings Offset pointing was not carried out at all. Errors and Problems ------------------------------------------------------- 3.1 BCS errors One BCS error occurred at Pass1, 26-Feb-96. It was recovered successfully in Pass3 of the same day. 3.2 SXT errors One Bit map error was detected at Pass1, 26-Feb-96. It was recovered with "reserve command C" in the same Pass. 3.3 DP errors NONE. 4. DSN Communications -------------------------------------------------------- 4.1 DSN Final schedule for W09 Seven DSN contacts were cancelled by JPL. Two of them were cancelled after OP WRITE. We did not konw the reason for the realtime cancel. As a result, the data were maybe dumped at the two stations without data receiving. 4.2 DSN Final schedule for W10 We cancelled one DSN contact for the week 10. 4.3 DSN Preliminary schedule for W11 We cancelled 14 contacts from the preliminary schedule for week 11. 4.4 DSN Strawman schedule for W12 22 DSN contacts were cancelled from the Strawman schedule for week12, including 6 ASCA-conflicts. 4.5 Pass additions NONE. 4.6 Re-transmission requests and results The following data were requested by Katano-san. 042 76 1620 65% corrupted. Tape Requested 1 Mar. 5. Yohkoh/ASCA Pass Conflicts at KSC ---------------------------------------- ^^^^^ In W09, eight passes were lost due to conflicts with ASCA. We will give four passes to ASCA during W10. 6. Special Operations -------------------------------------------------------- NONE. 7. Holiday Schedule ----------------------------------------------------------- The next holiday will be on Sunday, 10-Mar. 8. Hikitsugi Items ----------------------------------------------------------- 8.1 Tohbans for W10 KSC : S. Kubo, H.Sekiguchi SSOC: M. Shimojo, N. Nitta 8.2 STT timer setting The next STT timer set is due on Tuesday, 05-Mar-96 JST. 8.3 Offpoint terminator images If terminators appear in the OP generated by running OP_FIRST_GUESS, then the OP should be FAXed to the SXT_CO (Chief Observer) in D-toh. The SXT_CO will then inform the SSOC tohbans if offpointing will be carried out. If it will be done, the OP will need be edited before printout by FACOM. (This sentence was added in p.13 of the New Mannual by Dr.Sterling.) 8.4 Transmission of OPs It is no longer necessary to confirm the transmission of OP/OG files to KSC by checking the printout on the 3rd floor in B-toh. Instead the time of transmission of the OP/OG files should be noted down. If the SSOC or KSC tohbans notice any failure in transmission of the OP/OG files then it should be reported to Shuto-san and Kosugi-san. 8.5 SXT patrol image dumps A block command `DP BC 8C-05 (hex)' should be executed whenever an SXT Table is uploaded. This command dumpes the SXT patrol images. So, we can check ARS parameters though the Sun is very quiet. 8.6 WWW server of DSN The DSN NOCC Information Server (NIS) is now on-line and available for DSN scheduling operations. The URL location is: http://dsn.jpl.nasa.gov/nss But! There are not XMOSAIC nor NETSCAPE in flare1 and flare11. Moreover, from the machines outside ISAS, it appears not possible to access the URL. We should see the information on flare20. 8.7 New Password We now send strawman and preliminary DSN deletions to JPL by three methods: EMAIL, RASM, and FTP. A password is needed for the FTP transfer. Tohbans for the new week should get this password from the previous week's tohbans. 8.8 Manual The new manual prepared by Dr. Sterling and Dr. Ichimoto is very nice. We have annotated the following comments on the manual: (1) ftp to JPL is possible only through flare20 workstation, (2) Tohbans should let the SXT chief observers know if there is terminator image operation in the OP generated with op_first_guess. 8.9 New Main Frame Computer There was a ftp problem between the main frame and the flare* machines. The problem disappeared in the later half of the week #09. ------------------------------- End of Report --------------------------------
