SSOC Tohban Report for Week 12, 1996 (18 March - 24 March 1996) SSOC: T. Yoshida KSC : Y. Nakagawa, M. Takahashi 0. Operation Meeting ---------------- The operation meeting was not held because many people were not in Japan. 1. Solar Activity ---------------- The solar activity was low. 2. Standard Operation ---------------- 2.1 SXT table uploads Date(JST) Pass Table ID ------------------------------------------------ 22 Mar 4 960322 P4 ARS1 DKCAL 23 Mar 4 960323 P2 ARS1 STD ------------------------------------------------ 2.2 STT timer setting STT timer was set at pass 1 on 19 March. 3. Errors and Problems ---------------- 3.1 Network Error The network between flare# WSs and main frame #1 was corrupted on Thursday evening. We put new OP to main frame #1 via ASCA's WS, and Shuto-san put new orbital element to isass0 WS manually. The network was repaired on Saturday Morning. 3.2 Problems of the data transmission from DSN(JPL) 3.2.1 Data Corruptions The data on 3 March and 26 February was corrupted. We had requested re-transmission several times, but all data was corrupted. Katano-san said that recently the data corruptions occur frequently. (15 corruptions / month !!) We should discuss about this problem in the next operation meeting. 3.2.2 No FAX Report from the DSN station DSS-76 (Wallops) So far, there is no Post-Pass Transmission Report from the DSN station DSS-76 (Wallops). But the data from DSS-76 has come correctly. 4. DSN Communications ---------------- 4.1 DSN Final schedule for W13 There were two passes canceled from the final schedule of week 11, because it was redundant with KSC operations. DSS-17 DOY 85/2253 DSS-16 DOY 88/1344 4.2 DSN Strawman schedule for W15 The DSN Strawman schedule for W15 arrived only last Saturday morning (due to some JPL internal problem), so the SSOC Tohban of W13 will plan this schedule. 5. Yohkoh/ASCA Pass Conflicts at KSC ---------------- 5 passes in W12 and 7 passes in W13 were lost due to conflicts with ASCA. 6. Special Operations ---------------- The main frame #1 computer was down from Monday to Thursday, so only two standard SXT table were uploaded on Friday and Saturday. 7. Holiday Schedule ---------------- The next holiday will be on Sunday, 30 March. 8. Hikitsugi Items ---------------- 8.1 Tohbans for W13 KSC: Takahasi, Yasuno SSOC: Kubo, Shinoda 8.2 STT timer setting The next STT timer set is due on 26 March. 8.3 Transmission of OPs It is no longer necessary to confirm the transmission of OP/OG files to KSC by checking the printout on the 3rd floor in B-toh. Instead the time of transmission of the OP/OG files should be noted down. If the SSOC or KSC tohbans notice any failure in transmission of the OP/OG files then it should be reported to Shuto-san and Kosugi-san. 8.4 SXT patrol image dumps A block command `DP BC 8C-05 (hex)' should be executed whenever an SXT Table is uploaded. Since the Sun is very quiet, ARS parameters need to be checked by the SXT patrol images dumped by this command. 8.5 WWW server of DSN The DSN NOCC Information Server (NIS) is now on-line and available for DSN scheduling operations. The URL location is: http://dsn.jpl.nasa.gov/nss But it is not used for operations, so does this item need to be mentioned in the tohban report? 8.6 New works not mentioned in the manual The data corruptions from DSN(JPL) and the re-transmission request logs are put on the directory ~/dsn_corrupt by Katano-san. SSOC Tohbans should check these logs and report the problems. The lists of the Strawman schedules are printed out by Katano-san. ------------------------------- End of Report ---------------------------------
