SSOC Tohban Report for Week 23, 1996 (3 June - 9 June 1996) SSOC : T.Bushimata and S.Sano KSC : S.Nagai and M.Yamamoto 0. Solar Activities -------------------------------------------------------- We could not see so great solar activities in Week 23. The biggest flare observed by GOES was under C class (which was found around 9:00 UT on 9-Jun-96). YOHKOH mainly observed NOAA7968 during the week. 2. Standard Operations ----------------------------------------------------- 2.1 SXT Table Uploads There were 6 SXT tables which should be uploaded in Week 23. All of them were done with no errors. The ID of these tables are listed below. ------------------------------------------------------------ Date(JST) Pass No. Pass ID Table ID ------------------------------------------------------------ 3-Jun-96 2 960602-1032 960602 P2 ARS1 DKCAL 4-Jun-96 4 960603-1240 960603 P4 ARS1 STD+LONG 6-Jun-96 2 960605-1031 960605 P2 ARS1 STD+DIFF 6-Jun-96 2 960606-1031 960606 P2 ARS0 SUMER AR 7-Jun-96 4 960606-1238 960606 P4 ARS1 STD+LONG 7-Jun-96 1 960607-0825 960607 P1 ARS1 STD+BE ------------------------------------------------------------ 2.2 STT Timer Setting STT timer setting for Week 23 was done successfully during pass 2 on 5-Jun-96 (960605-1031). In Week 24, it is supposed to be done during pass 2 on 11-Jun-96 (960611-0824). 2.3 SXT Terminator Images and S/C Offset Pointings The following table shows the informations of SXT terminator images and S/C pointings during Week 23. ----------------------------------------- Date(UT) Time(UT) S/C pointing OG# ----------------------------------------- 2-Jun-96 6:08:31 S/C W.296 S1.24 33 2-Jun-96 7:45:35 S/C W.296 S1.24 33 6-Jun-96 17:20:47 None ----------------------------------------- 2.4 HXT Calibrations We had 3 HXT calibrations in Week 23. Each calibrations was done in YOHKOH's night. --------------------------------- Date(JST) Pass No. Pass ID --------------------------------- 5-Jun-96 2 960604-1134 6-Jun-96 2 960605-1031 6-Jun-96 3 960605-1134 --------------------------------- 3. Errors and Problems ----------------------------------------------------- 3.1 SXT Errors None. 3.2 BCS Errors BCS errors were found twice during Week 23. These errors were removed with no problems after using normal BCS recovery plan. ---------------------------------------------------- Date(JST) Pass No. Pass ID Recovered in ---------------------------------------------------- 3-Jun-96 1 960603-0930 960603-1343 9-Jun-96 4 960608-1136 960608-1240 ---------------------------------------------------- 3.3 Problems on Updating the Orbital Elements On 5-Jun-96, we met with an unexpected problem while we tried to update the orbital elements to new ones. The "SUBMIT" command in PFD 2 would not work in any member at that time. As the result, we could not get AOSLOS lists on that day too. This situation was continued to 6-Jun-96, but suddenly everything worked correctly after Watanabe-san was made something. (He says that he simply logged on and then logged off!) It must have got into some abnormal conditions, but we were not able to know about it. The reason now remains mystery. 4. DSN Communications ------------------------------------------------------ 4.1 DSN Final Schedule for W23 We did not cancel any pass in Week 23. 4.2 DSN Final Schedule for W24 We got the final schedule for Week 24 on 6-Jun-96 and canceled 5 passes from them as follows. ---------------------------------- Date(JST) Facility DOY Pass No. ---------------------------------- 11-Jun-96 DSS-17 163 6475 12-Jun-96 DSS-74 163 6480 13-Jun-96 DSS-17 165 6504 15-Jun-96 DSS-17 167 6533 16-Jun-96 DSS-46 168 6558 ---------------------------------- The reason of the cancellation was that these passes were placed among two normal KSC contacts, or they were very close to the other DSS contacts. This cancellation has been accepted by DSN on 8-Jun-96. 4.3 DSN Preliminary Schedule for W25 We got the preliminary schedule for Week 25 on 6-Jun-96 and canceled 10 passes from them. This cancellation has been accepted by DSN on 8-Jun-96. 4.4 DSN Strawman Schedule for W26 We got the Strawman schedule for Week 26 on 7-Jun-96 and canceled 34 passes from them. 3 of them were due to the conflicts with ASCA. This cancellation is now submitted to DSN. 4.6 Re-transmission Requests and Results This work is usually done by Katano-san, but she was on holiday in Week 23. So we have not yet got these data. SSOC tobans in Week 24 will get them as /home/flare1/yohkoh/dsn_corrupt/yy_ww (yy:year, mm:month) when Katano-san's work is finished. 5. YOHKOH/ASCA Pass Conflicts at KSC --------------------------------------- In Week 23, there were 6 losses of KSC contacts due to the pass conflicts with ASCA. --------------------- Date(JST) Pass ID --------------------- 4-Jun-96 960603-1033 4-Jun-96 960603-1136 5-Jun-96 960604-1237 7-Jun-96 960607-0929 8-Jun-96 960607-1032 9-Jun-96 960608-1033 --------------------- We will also lose 3 passes as the same reason in Week 24. ---------------------- Date(JST) Pass ID ---------------------- 12-Jun-96 960612-0825 12-Jun-96 960612-0928 13-Jun-96 960613-0826 ---------------------- 6. Special Operations ------------------------------------------------------ None. 7. Holiday Schedule -------------------------------------------------------- The next holiday is 16-Jun-96 (JST). 8. Hikitsugi Items --------------------------------------------------------- 8.1 Tohbans for W24 KSC : Y.Yamamoto and T.Magara SSOC : J.Koyama and T.Sakao 8.2 STT Timer Setting As we have already mentioned above (See 2.2), the next STT timer setting is due on 11-Jun-96, pass 2 (960611-0824). We have already prepare the command sheet for them. 8.3 Troubles on Laser Witer in B-tou Laser Witer in B-tou (the default printer of flare1, flare11 and flare20) had some troubles. It is reported that it could not feed paper correctly especially when paper stock was full. In addition, it began to appear some dirty spots in printed documents in Week 23. Shimizu-san kindly helped us to clean it up and repaired the bad places, so it now works very fine. 8.4 Troubles on FAX Machine in B-tou The FAX machine in B-tou often feeds 2 or 3 papers at once. However, it seems that it hardly occur if we take care of the paper positions. 8.5 Troubles on Flare20 The console of flare20 will sometimes never accept ant keyboard input. When this problem occur, you can log in flare20 via network and then try "clear_colormap" command before you contact the WS managers.
