Errors and Problems ---------------- 3.1. SXT Errors ---------------- A Bit map error was detected during the following passes. It was recovered by Yobi C command during that pass. 12-Aug-96 Pass 5 (9608120-0723) 3.2. BCS Error ---------------- An error was detected at 13-Aug-96 Pass 1 and recovered at Pass 3. 3.3. Typhoon hit at KSC - Due to stoppage of electricity power supply, the following pass was cancelled: 14-Aug-96 Pass 1 (Pass 2 was not planned due to conflict with ASCA). - Operation plan was modified as follows: 13-Aug-96 Passes 4 & 5: SXT Table uploads cancelled. 14-Aug-96 Pass 3: Monitoring only (no uplink). - At 14-Aug-96 Pass 4, a special operation was conducted for the recovery from OP stop situation. The SSOC Tohban failed to write a complete plan (DAY OG missing), but thanks to our experienced KSC Tohban and operators we were successful in returning S/C to the normal condition. 3.4. Interruption of Electricity Power Supply during a KSC Operation - During an operation of 16-Aug-96 Pass 1, a short-term (shorter than a second) interruption of power supply happened just after OP upload & checking. Neither uplink nor downlink was made till Yohkoh left KSC, resulting again in OP stop situation. - The recovery was successfully made at Pass 2. 3.5. S3500 troubles at KSC - Telemetry trasfer from S3500 to SXT WS was on trouble on 15-Aug-96. - We couldn't turn on S3500 at 16-Aug-96 Passes 1 - 3, and we used terminals of the FACOM mainframe (at SSOC) for the operation. Some degradation seems under way in S3500. This will be investigated by FACOM CE next Tuesday. (Ogawara & Kosugi take responsibility.) - Monitor SA2 (under investigation by Shimojo san). 4. DSN Communications ---------------- 4.1. DSN Final schedule for W33 (Serious mistake) ---------------- Two passes on DOY 225 (12-Aug-96 17:54 & 19:38) were cancelled from the JPL side due to Telecom-2D launch. The FAX message seemed to arrive on 11-Aug-96, Sunday, but was recognized neither by the previous SSOC Tohban nor the present Tohban. As a result, two downlnked data were lost. (Note that OP for 12-Aug-96 was prepared by the previous Tohban, but that the present Tohban is responsible for updating it.) 4.2. DSN Final schedule for W34 ---------------- No passes were canceled. 4.3. DSN Preliminary schedule for W35 ---------------- 8 passes were canceled. 4.4. DSN Strawman schedule for W36 ---------------- 45 passes were canceled. 4.5. Data Transmission from DSN ---------------- The following are under request for retrasmission. 203 74 1844 not received Requested 26 jul. not received Requested 2 Aug. not received Requested 12 Aug. not received Repuested 15 Aug. 225 76 0008 not receiced Requested 16 Aug. 228 ?? ???? not receiced Requested 16 Aug. 5. Yohkoh/ASCA Pass Conflicts at KSC ---------------- 4 passes in W33 were lost to ASCA. 5 passes in W34 are scheduled to be lost to ASCA. 6. Special Operations ---------------- None 7. Holiday Schedule ---------------- The next KSC holiday is 25-Aug-1996. 8. Hikitsugi Items ---------------- 8.1. Tohbans for W33 ---------------- SSOC: Hudson & Nakakubo KSC: Shimojo & Kumagai 8.2. STT Timer setting ---------------- The next setting is due on 20-Aug-96 JST. 8.3 Sirius Data Nothing to report. 8.4. Op_first_guess ---------------- - (LOS Medium/High Bitrate) The op_first_guess fails switching to the medium mode during the KSC passes in the OP plan when there are canceled passes. Alphonse Sterling sent a note to Jim Lemen about this and the SSOC tohbans suppose Jim is working on this. In the meantime, tohbans should be careful to check the KSC LOS mode in the next day's operations in the OP. - (DSN contact selection) There are cases where the op_first_guess fails picking up some DSN contacts. This occurs because of timing discrepancy in AOS time between JPL schedule table (in solass.w##) and AOS_LOS table by more than 6 min (a threshold currently used in op_first_guess). (In the case that occurred in the 13-Aug-96 OP, this discrepancy was about 6 min.) Tohbans should be careful to check if any DSN contacts is not missing. 8.5. RASM switched to flare20. ---------------- The RASM script, krasm, now works on flare20, but not flare11. 8.6. Flare1 printer ---------------- The new printer next to the flare1 workstation does not accept plain- text files' printing jobs, but works only for PostScript files. Most of printing jobs from flare20 were resumed to work, but it still needs modification of scripts. Report to the software managers, if you notice any problem. The jobs to printout new DSN schedules automatically don't work correctly. We should do this manually. --- end of report ---
