SSOC Tohban Report for Week 39 (23 Sep. - 30 Sep. 1996) SSOC: M. Shimojo and M. Yamamoto KSC : Y. Hanaoka and S. Watari Meeting Attendance ---------------- Irie, Marubashi, Yamamoto, Shimojo, Ogawara, Sawa, Sakao, Hara, Shimizu, Sterling, Wuelser 0. Action Items ------------------- Week-39; /ISAS SSOC Network person /CLOSE We received 6 FAXs from DSN operation chief. These Faxs is that " They have lost communication with your Gateway Process. Our technicans have verified that our support equipment ans communications lines are working correctly. Please check your gateway equipment. The OUTAGE Began at : 268/20:00, 269/10:20, 269/16:44 " Now, Saitoh_san(NInomiya_ken) had already recovery on Monday. Week-39; /Yohkoh Software /CLOSE When we made Tuesday's and wedeseday's OPs by op_first_guess, we found a problem. This problem is that DSN LOS time is the same as SXT CAMP OBS command (SXT CAMP ON, SXT CTL AT, etc..) time. Since wuelser_san checked the time of Night OG, we can not include the SXT CAMP OBS in this OP at this time. Week-38; /Flare Manager /CLOSE A hard-disk of flare4 sometime stooped since "time out" error. Since this problem is the same as the problem at week 34, Flare Manager asked this problem to Digital Technology corporation . Week-40; /Watanabe, Te. The operation method of NEC and FACOM and MELCO at KSC will change from week 40. We have to take care the confliction with ASCA and AKEBONO. ~~~~~~~ ---- Dear Tohbans, based on the agreement among NEC and ISAS managing offices and the leaders of the three satellites (Ogawara/Yohkoh, Nagase/ASCA, and Tsuruta/Aekebono) using the KSC tracking facility, stationing of NEC operation support staffs was decided to be changed from 1-October-1996. Here is a guide line of the change (unofficial material). Details will be further negotiated, if necessary, during the test period (see item 6.). For Yohkoh this change may result to a net loss of about half KSC pass per day during the coming months. Tetsuya Watanabe ----- (unofficial) Tracking Support Staffs at KSC (pr.Y.Ogawara, 19-Sep-96) (tr.T.Watanabe, 27-Sep-96) In oder to rationalize the tracking support system at KSC and minimizing its expenses, summarized here is the essence of ISAS' proposal: 1. An NEC support team is to support s/c trackings for a specified time allocation, rather than (as in the currrent system,) for a specified spacecraft. 2. Therefore, one team will not be able to support more than two satellites at a time. 3. Yohkoh and ASCA will be operated for five passes a day at maximum. The scheduling between the two will be the same as before. 4. Akebono will keep one pass per day at minimum. 5. Arrangements will be required, if an Akebono pass overlaps either Yohkoh or ASCA passes. Operation due to emergencies (troubles etc.) of the spacecrafts, accidents and troubles of the ground facilities, simultaneous coordinated observations, and holiday scheduling should be adjusted temporalily and appropriately. 6. As a test interval, till the end of the initial operation of MUSES-B (VSOP), which is going to use KSC for command uplink and HK downlink, total of two (or three) NEC supporting teams are going to serve for the operation of the three satellites. 7. In the period of the stationary operation of Akebono, Yohkoh, ASCA, and VSOP, the three-shift supporting system will be accommodated for the twenty-four hour operation of the four satellites. Scheduling concept 1. Based on NASDA's long-term (three month) orbital element forecasting, pass overlappings will be predicted by the software available in SP/ISAS. 2. "Scheduling meeting" will be held bimonthly bases (tentatively third Thursday of odd months), presented by representatives of each satellite, NEC and ISAS contractors. 3. Final (weekly or emergent) arrangement will be discussed among the representatives of the satellites (same as before). ----- 1. The op_first_guess fails to switch the KSC LOS quiet high (QT HI) to the medium (QT ME) mode of OP plan in the next day operation when KSC pass2 is cancelled. Tohbans should pay attention to this when checking the OP and change it manually. New Bug report!! The op_first_guess fails to inclued SXT CAMP OBS in quiet medium for SAA zone. Tohban should change the rate mode or delete SXT CAMP OBS operations. 8.6 Week-35-A/I-1 /Ogawara/ status: OPEN Prof. Ogawara will ask Fujitsu to check the health of S-3500 located at KSC, because of the increased number of the problems. Week-35-A/I-3 /Shimizu, Hara/ status: OPEN The workstation flare 5 currently located at SSOC should be returned to KSC for operational use. The failed display of the flare 5 currently located at KSC should be sent to SSOC for repair.
