Solar Activity: Two active regions (NOAA8004, 8005) is on disk this week . Solar activity was at B level and two C-class flares (16-DEC-96 12:29UT C2.9, 19-DEC-96 15:56UT C2.3) and four B-class flares occured during week 51. 2. The next timer set is planned for pass 3 on 23-Dec. 3. Errors and Problems 3.1 SXT Errors and Problems No SXT errors. 3.2 BCS Errors BCS Error occured 21-Dec-96 Pass 1 (PASS No. 961220-1031) and recovered during the same pass. 4. DSN Communications: 4.1 Cancellations for W51: We had to cancel 1 DSN passes on 20-Dec-96. Because elevation of this pass is less than 10 degree. The cancellations were confirmed by DSN. 4.2 DSN Final schedule for W52 (this week): No passes were cancelled. 4.3 DSN Preliminary schedule for W01: 20 passes which at YOHKOH night were cancelled. Because we will not operate this week at KSC. 4.4 DSN Strawman schedule for W01: 8 passes were cancelled. In week 51, the strawman schedule for w01 did not arrived, so that these passes were cancelled on 22-Dec-96. 4.5 DSN Scheduling Procedure In week 51, we recieved from Albert Chang at JPL. Plesae refer the ssoc tohban report of w51. But there is not a telephone number of NOCC in this FAX. NOCC tel. YOHKOH/ASCA/AKEBONO Pass Conflicts at KSC: Week 51: 6 passes were cancelled. Week 52: 4 passes were cancelled. 6. Special Operations: 6.1 HXT Calibrations There was a HXT cal during KSC pass 2 on 19-Dec, pass2 and 3 on 20-Dec. But HXT CAL during KSC pass 3 on 20-Dec is missed. We will try the HXT CAL operation in this week again. 7. Holiday Schedule: The next KSC holiday is 29-Dec-96 ~ 3-Jan-97 JST. 8. Hikitsugi Items: 8.1 Tohbans for W52 SSOC: T. Sakurai, T. Sakao KSC: T Noguchi , S. Sano 8.2 STT Timer setting The next setting is due on 23-Dec and 25-Dec(UT)(Tuesday). The command sheet of 23-Dec(UT) already prepared. 8.3 Sirius Data Nothing to report. 8.4 Terminators Rather than sending a fax as done before, the SSOC tohbans should now send email to the SXT CO (sxt_co@isass0) the terminators schedule so he can decide about offpoints or filters to be used. 8.5 Yohkoh and Muses-B KSC conflict (1-DEC-96 - 1-FEB-97) Due to preparations for the launch of Muses-B the following is a list of passes expected to be lost by Yohkoh and proposed holidays: DAY(JST) COMMENT 28-DEC-96(Sat.) work end of 1996 4-JAN-97(Sat.) work start of 1997 12-JAN-97(Sun.) Holiday 28-JAN-97(Tue.) Holiday 8.6 Contact persons in case of ISAS-KSC network crash. The Network, which connected KSC workstations and Sagamihara computer #1, apparantly was down twice in W49. If this happens you should contact Miura-san (ex., 2420) or Tyouki-san (ex., 2410) at ISAS (Sagamihara). 9. Action Items 9.1 Week-46-A/I-1 /Ogawara/ Status: CLOSE Greg Slater reported that the Sony LD recorders of D-toh have some trouble writing images. Thanks to Prof. Ogawara's prompt actions, Laser Disk Recorder (LVS-5000A & LVR-5000A) has already been made repairs by Sony System Service co. and came back to D-toh. 9.2 Week-42-A/I-1 /Hudson, Lemen, Yoshida/ status: DEFERRED UNTIL JIM'S VISIT T. Yoshida has produced preliminary software to aid in optimizing the Yohkoh DP rate in OPs. The final implementation of Yoshida san's software will probably have to await the next visit to ISAS by Jim Lemen. 9.3 Week-35-A/I-1 /Ogawara, Hara/ status: DEFERRED An action item to investigate the cause of recurrent problems with of the S-3500 computer at KSC has been deferred because no problems have occurred for several weeks. The investigation will continue if and when further problems recur. As FACOM's interim message, Ogawara-sensei reported that the GBIB board might be problematic. If that might be the case, he would see it is would be possible to have another board from from a computer in Tsuruta-san's Lab, which we borrowed during the initial operations of Yohkoh. 9.4 Week-51-A/I-1 /flare WS Manager status: CLOSE In week 51, the krasm program on flare20 hung-up several times. But a ploblem of krasm did not occure in week 52. WSM checked the log of flare20, but we can found the origine of this problem.
