SSOC Tohban Report for Week 10 (3 Mar -- 9 Mar 1997) SSOC : M. Irie & T. Shimizu KSC : K. Shibasaki & Y. Nakagawa 0. Meeting Attendance: J.Lemen, J.Khon, S..Savy, T.Watanabe, K.Ichimoto M.Sawa, H.Hara, Y.Nishino 1. Solar Activity: The Sun was quiet in the first half of W10. An active region appeared from behind the east limb around 5 March, slightly increasing solar activity. The largest activity was in sub-C level. 2. Standard Operation: 2.1 SXT Table Uploads: ------------------------------------------------------------ Pass ID Pass # Table ID ------------------------------------------------------------ Mon 970303-0412 2 970303 P2 ARS1 STD+LONG Tue 970304-0413 2 970304 P2 ARS1 DARKCAL Wed 970305-0517 3 970305 P3 STD+LONG+DIFF Thr 970306-0514 3 970306 P3 ARS1 STD+LONG Fri 970307-0411 2 970307 P2 ARS1 STD+LONG Sat 970308-0515 4 970308 P4 ARS1 STD+ECLIPSE ------------------------------------------------------------ 2.2 STT timer setting: The STT timer was set during pass 2 (970304-0413) on 4 Mar 97 (Tue). 2.3 Offpointing for Terminators ----------------------------- Date Time S/C Pointing ----------------------------- no offset pointing ----------------------------- 3. Errors and Problems 3.1 BCS Errors and Problems: BCS error was detected three times this week and recovered. 1, (found) 970305-0414 Pass1 (recovered) 970305-0517 Pass2 2, (found) 970306-0721 Pass5 (recovered) same pass 3, (found) 970307-0618 Pass4 (recovered) 970308-0515 Pass4 The recovery of the 3rd error was postponed to the next day due to an SXT error in Pass5. 3.2 SXT Errors and Problems: SXT error was detected twice this week and recovered. 1, SEU error (found) 970306-0721 Pass5 NO YOBI COMMANDS! (yobi) 970306-0825 Pass6 Yobi B, SXT in safe (recovered) 970307-0308 Pass1 Recovery Plan 2, SEU error (found) 970307-0722 Pass5 Yobi A+B, SXT in safe (recovered) 970308-0412 Pass3 Recovery Plan 3.3 Extra Operation to put SXT in safe mode When the 1st SEU error mentioned above was found in Pass5, KSC tobans had no actions and we could not confirm whether SXT was in safe. Taking account of increasing solar activity, Shimizu & Prof. Ogawara decided to have an extra pass (Pass 6, max elv. 3.6 deg) to execute Yobi B commands. This extra operation was done without problem. 3.4 Pass number confusion There was a pass number confusion on Wednesday. For pass 970305-0517, SXT-CO and NEC called Pass3, SSOC tobans Pass2, KSC tobans Pass4. This confusion happened in the following situation: Pass 970305-0207: max elv. 10.2 cancelled for ASCA Pass -0310: max elv. 37.2 cancelled for ASCA Pass -0414: max elv. 85.2 Pass -0517: max elv. 83.1 Pass -0620: max elv. 36.2 Pass -0724: max elv. 10.4 What is the rule? 4. DSN Communications: 4.1 Cancelations for W10: No passes were canceled for this week. 4.2 DSN Final schedule for W11: 4 passes were canceled. 4.3 DSN Preliminary schedule for W12: 1 pass was canceled by SSOC, and 1 pass was canceled by DSN. 4.4 DSN Strawman schedule for W12: 37 passes were canceled. 4.5 Data Transmission from DSN: 031 17 1530 not received Requested 04 Feb. no response Requested 13 Feb. received the e-mail e-mail Requested 15 Feb. no response Requested 21 Feb. *reserved 26 Feb. 050 66 2212 not received Requested 25 Feb. no response Requested 28 Feb. YOHKOH/ASCA/AKEBONO/HALCA Pass Conflicts at KSC: 5.1 Canceled passes for W10-11 Week 10: 1 passe was canceled for ASCA, 2 passes for AKEBONO, and 1 pass for Halca. 2 passes were canceled due to electric power outage at KSC. Week 11: 2 passes will be canceled for ASCA and 3 passes for AKEBONO. 6. Special Operations: 6.1 Partial Eclipse Yohkoh observed a partial eclipse around 01:05 UT in 9 Mar 1997. The orbit timer was disable during the eclipe to stabilize the satellite pointing. The eclipse data was downlinked at Goldstone. 7. Holiday Schedule: The next holiday will be 16-March-1997. 8. Hikitsugi Items: 8.1 Tohbans for W11 SSOC: Y. Nishino & K. Ichimoto KSC: K. Shibasaki & Y. Nakagawa(-13) 8.2 STT Timer setting The STT timer set is due on Tuesday. 8.3 Sirius Data Nothing to report. 8.4 Suggestion to DSN selection rule: mail from JPL I understand that you access RASM and choose the passes that are made available to you. We would like you to use the Wallops (WFF) passes as much as possible. In other words, if a pass from one of the DSN sites (Goldstone, Madrid or Canberra) can be substituted by a WFF pass, please use the WFF pass and delete the DSN pass, instead of vise versa. Please understand we are not asking you to give up any coverage but if the same coverage can be accomplished by using WFF instead of the DSN, we would like you to do so. (Albert Chang) 8.5 Changes in OP_FIRST_GUESS Lemen-san has improved op_first_guess to have BDR optimization. There are changes as follows. The detailed description of the improvement is found in OP_FIRST_GUESS REPORT which was circulated by Jim Lemen in the previous weekly operation meeting. This report was filed in SSOC YOHKOH TOHBAN DUTY MANUAL (after p17). 1. For the question: *Add SXT terminator images? [Default: Y ] you should always answer "Y" to this question. 2. For the question: * Change SAA times to MED RATE? [Default: Y ] you should always answer "Y". 3. There is a new question: * Enter BDR optimization (1 or 2) [Default: 2 ] you should always use the default answer of "2". 8.6 Santiago stations If tobans cancel Santiago passes used on 28, 29, and 30 March, please give notice of the deletion to Seko-san. 9. Action Items 9.1 Week-42-A/I-1 /Lemen/ status: almost CLOSE? The new version (v4.2) of OP_FIRST_GUESS was installed last week. This version tries to create more terminator opportunities. It's seemingly working excellent. After the revision work is done, all the changes should be included in the manual. 9.2 Week-07-A/I-1 /Hudson, Sawa/ status: OPEN Sawa-san raised the doubt that the CCD bake-out affect the temperature structure on YOHKOH and hence HXT calibration. H. Hudson investigated it and found that the temprature increase was negligible compared to the fluctuation caused by HV-off etc. Further investigation is in progress. 9.3 Week-08-A/I-1 /Hudson, Shimizu/ status: Open SXTSPT software started to give unnecessary warnings after its revision about one month ago. Fujitsu poeple are working on it. 9.4 Week-09-A/I-1 /Freeland, Slater/ status: Open "No GOES Event Data Available" in goes_summary plot. GOES event data has not been created since week 3 of this year. Tohbans is asking Freeland-san (via Slater-san) to fix the problem. 9.5 Week-10-A/I-1 /Shimizu/ status: Open There is no manual describing how to get ORBIT TIMER command for ``ORBIT TIMER ENA'' OG. Need a brief manual for next eclipses. ---end of report
