Meeting Attendance: L.Acton, L.Culhane, S.Savy, T.Watanabe, H.Hara, T.Shimizu, M.Sawa, S.Tsuneta, S.Yasuno 1. Solar Activity: The Sun was quiet during most of the week, but solar activity gradually increased as a new AR (NOAA 8026) on the east limb at the end of this month. There were one C class flare and five B class flares from 27 to 28-Mar. 2. Standard Operation: 2.1 SXT Table Uploads: ------------------------------------------------------------ Pass ID Pass # Table ID ------------------------------------------------------------ Mon 970323-1342 2 970323 P2 ARS1 STD+LONG Tue 970324-1443 2 970324 P2 ARS1 DKCAL Wed 970325-1444 3 970325 P3 ARS1 STD+DIFF Fri 970327-1445 4 970327 P4 ARS1 STD+LONG Sat 970328-1239 2 970328 P2 ARS1 STD+LONG Sun 970329-1343 4 970329 P4 ARS1 STD+LONG ------------------------------------------------------------ ** There was no SXT TBL UPLOAD on thursday in this week due to DP error. 2.2 STT timer setting: The STT timer was set during pass 2 (ID: 970324-1443) on 24 Mar. 97 (Tue). 2.3 Offpointing for Terminators ----------------------------- Date Time S/C Pointing ----------------------------- no offset pointing ----------------------------- 3. Errors and Problems 3.1 BCS Errors and Problems: No BCS errors were detected last week. 3.2 SXT Errors and Problems: Bit Map errors were occured at the first contact on 24th Mar.(JST) (the pass ID is 970323-1239) and the third contact on 27th Mar. (JST) (the pass ID IS 970326-1444). These errors were cleared by Yobi-command C at the same passes. An SXT error occurred by 'SEU' during 4th pass on 27th Mar.(JST). The pass ID is 970326-1548. Yobi-command A issued in the same pass, and SXT recovery was successfully completed during the next 5th pass the following pass ID (pass NO. 970327-0103). 3.3 DP errors and Problems: ・DP error occurred in pass4 on 26th Mar.(UT) with the pass ID 970326-1548. ・The error code was A3 (Hex). The "A3" means that a SXT-data on-board transmission to DP had bad timing. Though we guess that the SXT software was corrupted, Nomura-san (Fujitsu DP contact personnel) is now analyzing the DP memory dump which was downlinked from Yohkoh. ・After the DP command " ERR LOG CLR " was issued at the first pass on 27th Mar.(UT) with the pass ID 970327-1135, the error flag was successfully cleared. 3.4 Others None. 4. DSN Communications: 4.1 DSN Final schedule for W14: Four passes were canceled. 4.2 DSN Preliminary schedule for W15: 18 passes were canceled by SSOC. 4.3 DSN Strawman schedule for W16: 48 passes were canceled. 4.4 Data Transmission from DSN: (/home/flare1/yohkoh/dsn_corrupt/97_12) 057 16 0448 corrupted tape Requested 28 Feb. no response tape Requested 04 Mar. no response tape Requested 10 Mar. no response tape Requested 14 Mar. YOHKOH/ASCA/AKEBONO/HALCA Pass Conflicts at KSC: 5.1 Canceled passes for W13-14 Week 13: 7 passes were canceled for HARCA and no other passes were canceled. Week 14: 12 passes will be canceled for HARCA. 6. Special Operations: BCS Calibrations were done during 4 pass with the pass ID 970328-1446 (Stim cal), and on 970328, near 20:33 UT (Source cal). 7. Holiday Schedule: The next holiday will be 06-April-1997. 8. Hikitsugi Items: 8.1 Tohbans for W14 SSOC: S.Tsuneta & S.Savy KSC: S. Kubo & M.Shimojo 8.2 STT Timer setting The STT timer set is due on Tuesday (01-Apr.-97). 8.3 Sirius Data Nothing to report. 8.4 Suggestion to DSN selection rule: mail from JPL I understand that you access RASM and choose the passes that are made available to you. We would like you to use the Wallops (WFF) passes as much as possible. In other words, if a pass from one of the DSN sites (Goldstone, Madrid or Canberra) can be substituted by a WFF pass, please use the WFF pass and delete the DSN pass, instead of vise versa. Please understand we are not asking you to give up any coverage but if the same coverage can be accomplished by using WFF instead of the DSN, we would like you to do so. (Albert Chang) 8.5 Changes in OP_FIRST_GUESS Lemen-san has made a modification of the op_first_guess to surpress Campaign obs. between the first and second passes of KSC on the next day. Now the version is 4.3 and it seems to be working well. Regarding other more important changes, please see the reports from week 10. 8.6 Manual The japanese Houben-manual was updated in W11, but the parts of the DSN-related jobs should be reviewed carefully. 9. Action Items 9.1 Week-42-A/I-1 /Lemen/ status: almost CLOSE? The new version (v4.3) of OP_FIRST_GUESS was installed week 09. This version tries to create more terminator opportunities. It's seemingly working excellent. After the revision work is done, all the changes should be included in the manual. 9.2 Week-07-A/I-1 /Hudson, Sawa/ status: OPEN Sawa-san raised the doubt that the CCD bake-out affect the temperature structure on YOHKOH and hence HXT calibration. H. Hudson investigated it and found that the temprature increase was negligible compared to the fluctuation caused by HV-off etc. Further investigation is in progress. 9.3 Week-08-A/I-1 /Hudson, Shimizu/ status: OPEN SXTSPT software started to give unnecessary warnings after its revision about one month ago. Fujitsu poeple are working on it. 9.4 Week-09-A/I-1 /Freeland, Slater/ status: CLOSE ? Freeland-san fixed the problem which is GOES event data has not been created since week 3 of this year, "No GOES Event Data Available" in goes_summary plot. The GOES event files are now updating properly and older weeks (97_03 - 97_12) are online. Please verify and CLOSE this item if you agree. 9.5 Week-10-A/I-1 /Shimizu/ status: OPEN There is no manual describing how to get ORBIT TIMER command for ``ORBIT TIMER ENA'' OG. Need a brief manual for next eclipses. 9.6 Week-12-A/I-1 /Shimizu/ status: CLOSE ``cancel_dsn'' command did not be used on flare14. This problem is due to an unsuitable setup of the group ID of "yohkoh" account. Shimizu-san fixed this problem. ---end of report
