Standard Operations 2.1 SXT Table Uploads The following SXT tables were uploaded last week. ----------------------------------------------------------------- JST Day UT Start Time Pass Table ID ================================================================= Monday 31-Aug-98 10:37 2 980831 P2 ARS1 STD Tuesday 1-Sep-98 9:10 2 980901 P2 ARS1 DARKCAL Wednesday 2-Sep-98 11:11 3 980902 P2 ARS1 STD DIF Thursday 3-Sep-98 8:02 2 980903 P2 ARS1 STD Friday 4-Sep-98 6:39 1 980904 P1 ARS2 MEUDON Friday 4-Sep-98 11:46 4 980904 P4 ARS1 STD Sunday 6-Aug-98 8:55 3 980906 P2 ARS1 STD DIF ----------------------------------------------------------------- 2.2 STT timer setting STT timer was set during pass 2 (980901-0619) on 1-Sep (Tue). 2.3 Calibrations 2.3.1 GRS Calibration GRS calibrations were performed during passes 980831-0929, 980901-0929, 980903-0827 and 980904-0927. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Errors and Problems 3.1 BCS Errors No BCS errors. 3.2 SXT Errors A Filter Soft Error' was found at pass 980831-0618, and was cleared by SXT RECOVERY operation successfully during the next pass. 3.3 Possible OP_FIRST_GUESS Problem. OP_FIRST_GUESS failed to pick up a couple of passes from the solass.w36 DSN schedule last week. Here is an example: . . . 246 2215 2240 2254 2304 DSS-76 SOL R TKG PASS 7962 xxxxxx- xxx *---------- *FRI 04 Sep *---------- 247 2357 0022 0036 0046 DSS-76 SOL R TKG PASS 7963 xxxxxx- xxx 247 0140 0205 0219 0229 DSS-76 SOL R TKG PASS 7964 xxxxxx- xxx 247 0324 0349 0400 0410 DSS-76 SOL R TKG PASS 7965 xxxxxx- xxx . . . In this case, the missed pass was the one beginning at 0022. The problem seems to be that the DSN START time and the BOT times are for different DOY dates. We edited the solass.w36 file so that this line read: 246 2357 0022 0036 0046 DSS-76 SOL R TKG PASS 7963 xxxxxx- xxx OP_FIRST_GUESS then was able to pick up this pass. The other pass that OP_FIRST_GUESS missed had a similar form and was handled in the same way. We notified Jim Lemen of this problem. He hopes to look into this problem over the next couple of months. In the meantime, Tohbans will have to be on the lookout for this sort of problem. (Thanks go to Asizawa-san, who first noticed the missing pass even though he is "green" and was working alone at KSC.) We wonder if this problem has occurred in the past?? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. Special Operations 4.1 Pointing adjustment New parameters were given for normal pointing by ROG20h during pass 980903-0413. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5. The OP and Command Sheets to be uploaded Monday afternoon have been prepared. Please check to see whether the requested DSN pass cancelation for DOY 252 has been implemented. 7.5 KSC Alone. Miyagoshi san will be alone at KSC on September 8th and 9th. He requests that someone be at SSOC to assist him if needed during the operations period. 7.6 Manual and Checksheet A new version of the English Tohban Manual was generated last week, along with a corresponding new Tohban Checksheet. The new (and all future) Tohbans are requested to note any changes or mistakes in the manual, and to notify A. Sterling of any changes. If the changes involve the DSN procedures or the ~yohkoh/wallops/README file, Hugh Hudson san should also be notified. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8. Action Items 8.1 Further software development. Status CONTINUING. It would be greatly appreciated if the SSOC tohbans could recommend any software development that they think will save future tohbans time and which improves the reliability of their work. 8.1.1 ADD_DSN.PRO It would be helpful to have an "ADD_DSN.PRO" code (modeled on cancel_dsn) to simplify the procedure for making pass addition requests. 8.2 Week-48-A/I-1 /Hudson/status AJAR. PRINT_OGALL still does not work well. Hudson will fix it next. === END ===
