Meeting Attendance S.Akiyama, H.Hudson, J.Khan, T.Kosugi, B.LaBonte, N.Nitta -------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Solar Activity The solar activity is moderate through week 15. One M-class flare occurred on 8-APR (FRI) which was observed by Yohkoh. -------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Standard Operations 2.1 SXT Table Uploads The following SXT tables were uploaded during week 15: ===================================================== JST Date Pass Table ID ===================================================== 5-APR-99 2 990405 P2 ARS1 DIF 6-APR-99 2 990406 P2 ARS1 DAR 6-APR-99 1 990406 P1 ARS2 LOOP 7-APR-99 2 990406 P1 ARS1 STD 8-APR-99 1 990407 P1 ARS2 LOOP 8-APR-99 2 990407 P2 ARS1 STD 8-APR-99 1 990408 P1 ARS2 LOOP 9-APR-99 3 990408 P3 ARS1 STD 9-APR-99 1 990409 P1 ARS2 LOOP 10-APR-99 2 990409 P2 ARS1 STD ===================================================== 2.2 STT Timer setting STT timer was set during pass 2 on 6-APR-99 (JST). -------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Errors and Problems 3.1 BCS Errors: BCS error was found during pass 1 on 5-APR-99. It was recovered at pass 2 on the same day. 3.2 SXT Errors: None. 3.3 NASA Tracking Stations: Nothing to report. 3.4 STT P2E error was found. However, STT is in normal condition. The recovery operation will be considered consulting with NEC/STT persons. -------------------------------------------------------------- 4. Special Operations Software updates and tests of the SXTSPT and SAQL were done on 7-APR-99 (Wed). This is to clear the Y2K Problem. The test was successfully completed. -------------------------------------------------------------- 5. NASA Station Scheduling 5.1 Contact pass cancels/adds The following DSN/NASA passes were added/deleted: =================================================================== DSN/NASA Schedule Week Schedule Changes =================================================================== Realtime 15 1 pass deleted by SSOC (low max. el.) Final 16 7 pass deleted by SSOC (2 passes out of the 7 are requested to add.) KSC Pass Conflicts and Schedule In week 16, 6 KSC contacts to ASCA, 4 to AKEBONO. -------------------------------------------------------------- 7. Hikitsugi Items 7.1 Tohbans for week 15 SSOC: B. LaBonte , S. Akiyama KSC: K. Kobayashi , Hagino 7.2 STT timer setting STT timer setting is due on Tuesday, 13-Apr-99 (JST) 7.3 Holiday Schedule The next holiday will be Sunday, 18-Apr (JST). 7.4 Elevation Currently the maximum elevation threshold is 7 degrees; if DSN passes have maximum elevations larger than 7 degrees, they are used for DSN downlink. SSOC Tohbans need to examine the maximum elevation when finalizing the DSN final schedule, because the maximum elevation may change from the strawman to final schedule due to changing orbital elements. 7.5 KSC pass Since the KSC pass conflict of Yohkoh with other ISAS satellites, especially with ASCA, becomes worse for the time being and lasts for about one year, it is highly wanted for us to make use of Santiago station passes as complementing the lost KSC passes. 7.6 Manual and Checksheet A new version of the English Tohban Manual was generated during the week, along with a corresponding new Tohban Checksheet. The new (and all future) Tohbans are requested to note any changes or mistakes in the manual, and to notify A. Sterling of the changes. If the changes involve the DSN procedures or the ~yohkoh/wallops/README file, Hugh Hudson san should also be notified. Please include your name (or initials) next to your suggested corrections. Current Version Yohkoh Tohban Duties Manual Rev. 1-Feb-99, A. Sterling README (Manual for Wallops/DSN Operations) Ver.5.2 28-Sep-98, H. Hudson The Japanese SSOC Tohban Manual was last modified on 23-Nov-98 by Ishii and Ichimoto san-tachi. 7.7 Some Problems in OP_FIRST_GUESS - NASA tracking passes Hudson san has modified DSN_INPUT.PRO to take care of an op_first_guess problem in picking up some NASA passes occurring near 0 hours UT (see week 98_37 SSOC report for a detailed description of the problem). All seems to be fine now, but for a while Tohbans should double check that all the passes assigned to us by NASA in the latest final schedule are actually included in the OP. - Maximum Elevation In determining zenith passes, Tohbans should use the maximum altitude listed in the Weekly Visible Diagram, rather than the value on the command sheets. (See week 99_04 SSOC Tohban report for more details). 7.8 DSN Pass Additions (from week48_98 report) Pass addition requests can now conveniently be made (preferably at the Preliminary Schedule stage) using the add_dsn routine. See the wallops directory README file, and the Tohban Manual section on DSN Scheduling. 7.9 Discussions in WOM (12-APR-99) (a) Wallops pass selection The strategy of retaining the Wallops passes should be thouroughly informed to the tohbans. Considering the situation of more severe conflicts with ASCA and cancellations of DSN and Wallops passes in the preliminary and final schedules, all the Wallops passes should be kept till the last moment. (b) Suggestions for better tracking coverages HSH gave three possible suggestions for obtaining more Yohkoh passes, all of that seemed difficult to be realized immediately, nevertheless, worth to be considered in a long range. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8. Action Items 8.1 Further software development. Status CONTINUING. It would be greatly appreciated if the SSOC tohbans could recommend any software development that they think will save future tohbans time and which improves the reliability of their work. 8.2 Week-48-A/I-1 /Hudson/status AJAR. PRINT_OGALL still does not work well. Hudson will fix it. === END ===
