SSOC Tohban's Report for Week 25 (14-Jun-99 -- 20-Jun-99) SSOC: T. Sakao, Y. Kato KSC: Y. Hanaoka, D. Sasaki 0. Meeting Attendance H. Hara, H. Hudson, Y. Kato, P. Martens, K. Matsuzaki, Y. Ogawara, T. Sakao, M. Sawa, A. Sterling, G. Slater, T. Watanabe -------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Solar Activity Solar activity was low in the first half of last week, with the average GOES flux level staying slightly below C1. The activity increased slightly toward the weekend, showing an M-class flare on June 17 together with 4 above-C5 flares. Unfortunately, it seems none of them was observed with Yohkoh. All of the C-class events commenced during the spacecraft night and the M-class one during downlink at Santiago Station. -------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Standard Operations 2.1 SXT Table Uploads The following SXT tables were uploaded during week 24: ===================================================== JST Date Pass Table ID ===================================================== Mon 14-Jun-99 2 990613 P2 ARS1 STMAX01-1* Tue 15-Jun-99 2 990614 P2 ARS1 DAMAX01-1* Wed 16-Jun-99 3 990615 P3 ARS2 DIMAX01-2* Thu 17-Jun-99 2 990616 P2 ARS2 STMAX01-2* Fri 18-Jun-99 2 990618 P2 ARS1 STANDARD ===================================================== The "*" indicates that the UT date of the first pass of the day (which determines the Table ID) does not match the JST date of the actual upload. 2.2 STT Timer setting STT timer was set during pass 1 on 14-Jun-99. -------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Special Operations 3.1 HXT Calibrations We carried out regular HXT calibrations (once in every 1.5 months) as follows: ===================================================== Pass ID UT Date Pass ===================================================== 990615-1033 15-Jun (Tue) 16:11 1 HXT CAL 990616-1030 16-Jun (Wed) 14:44 1 HXT CAL 990616-1133 16:26 2 HXT CAL 990617-1030 17-Jun (Thu) 14:57 1 HXT Gain Adj. (OG Write) 990618-0928 18-Jun (Fri) 13:30 1 HXT CAL 990618-1031 15:13 2 HXT CAL 990619-0928 19-Jun (Sat) 13:45 1 HXT CAL ===================================================== -------------------------------------------------------------- 4. Errors and Problems 4.1 BCS Errors: A BCS error was found in Pass 1 on Mon 14-Jun (0:50 JST; 990613-1032) and was recovered in the next pass. 4.2 SXT Errors: none 4.3 S-3500 Trouble: During Pass 1 on June 16 (1:11 JST), S-3500 stopped to acquire telemetry data. Since A-400 continued to acquire the data and transmit it to SSOC without any trouble, it seems that the problem resides in the S-3500 side although the cause of the problem has not yet been identified. S-3500 resumed functioning well after that pass. -------------------------------------------------------------- 5. NASA Station Scheduling 5.1 Contact pass cancels/adds The following DSN/NASA passes were added/deleted: =================================================================== DSN/NASA Schedule Week Schedule Changes =================================================================== Real-time 25 none Final 26 9 passes (9 Santiago) deleted by SSOC Preliminary 27 none Strawman 28 74 passes (21 for ASCA) deleted by SSOC =================================================================== 5.2 Data Transmission from NASA Ground Stations -(From /home/flare1/yohkoh/dsn_corrupt/99_25)--------------- 153 80 1151 corrupted tape requested 08 Jun no response tape requested 15 Jun Closed/ correct data 157 80 1615 corrupted tape requested 15 Jun Closed/ correct data 158 80 1447 corrupted tape requested 15 Jun Cloesd/ same data 159 80 1502 corrupted tape requested 15 Jun Closed/ same data 160 80 1518 corrupted tape requested 15 Jun Closed/ same data 162 80 1222 corrupted tape requested 15 Jun Closed/ same data 163 80 0731 not received requested 15 Jun Closed/ correct data 80 0912 not received requested 15 Jun Closed correct data 164 80 0927 corrupted tape requested 15 Jun Closed/ same data ----- -------------------------------------------------------------- 6. KSC Pass Conflicts and Schedule In Week 25, 12 KSC contacts were lost: 7 to ASCA, 5 to Akebono. In Week 26, 10 KSC contacts will be lost to ASCA. -------------------------------------------------------------- 7. Hikitsugi Items 7.1 Tohbans for week 26 SSOC: K. Matsuzaki, H. Hudson KSC: Y. Hanaoka, Y. Yamauchi 7.2 STT timer setting The next STT TIMER SET is due on pass 1 on 21-Jun-99 (990621-0826). We have already written the commands into the real-time command sheets. The next-next STT TIME SET is due on pass 1 on 28-Jun-99. 7.4 Holiday Schedule The next holiday will be Sunday, 27-Jun-99 (JST). 7.4 Upcoming SERTS rocket flight on June 24 For the SERTS rocket flight on June 24, we have got the following KSC passes which were requested in the last operations meeting: 25-JUN-99 01:41:59 (24-JUN-99 16:41:59) 01:53:29 0.0 11.5 11.5 25-JUN-99 03:25:29 (24-JUN-99 18:25:29) 03:34:44 0.2 9.0 9.2 And here is a message from SXT CO: ------------------------------------------------------------------ From hudson@isass1.solar.isas.ac.jp Thu Jun 17 14:29:42 1999 Date: Thu, 17 Jun 1999 14:29:40 +0900 From: "Hugh S. Hudson" To: yohkoh@flare1.solar.isas.ac.jp, yohkoh@flare4.solar.isas.ac.jp Subject: SERTS rocket Cc: sxt_co@isass0.solar.isas.ac.jp Status: RO Thanks for your efforts - we have both of the key KSC passes on June 24, plus a whole list of Santiago passes. We will be able to afford the luxury of dumping the same data twice if we want to be especially safe. CO ------------------------------------------------------------------ 7.5 Command procedure for SXT Table Upload during Night In the operations meeting at the beginning of W26, we discussed command procedure for SXT Table Upload during S/C Night. The recommended one is: SXT CTL MANU MANU QT HI SXT CHK DIS SXT TABLE WR SXT TABLE RE DP BC "8C-05" SXT CHK ENA <-- Put this command ACS MOD H SXT CTL AT The point is that it would be better to put an "SXT CHK ENA" command in the procedure. This serves as a 'safety lock' for SXT when a command such as MANU QT H is mistakenly issued after SXT CTL AT, preventing SXT from taking dummy pictures. 7.6 Terminator Images for weekend OP If there is empty slot in the weekend OP, please add OG for terminator image to the weekend OP. Normally we can not do this, because there is no empty slot in the weekend OP. 7.7 KSC pass conflicts (from earlier weeks) ASCA conflicts cause the loss of about 10 KSC contacts per week at this time. We do not know which contacts Yohkoh will lose until the weekly meeting. Santiago contacts occur on the same orbits as KSC contacts. Therefore, keep as many Santiago contacts as possible in the DSN Strawman and Preliminary Forecasts. 7.8 Mainframe Replacement Mainframes will be replaced from 11-Jul(Sun) to 15-Jul(Thu). Caution when SSOC Tohbans make OPs. === END ===
