SSOC Tohban's Report for Week 28 (5-July-99 -- 11-July-99) SSOC: K. Aoki, T. Shimizu KSC: H. Tonooka, S. Yashiro 0. Meeting Attendance Ogawara, Ashizawa, Watanabe, Hara, Sterling, Handy, Shimizu -------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Solar Activity The solar activity is not high, although several active regions are located on the disk. Yohkoh had a full coverage of M1.2 flare starting at 5-July-99 18:30. Moreover, a few remarkable flares were observed at 6:19 7-July-99 and 9:26 8-July-99. They have HXT real signals in L/M1 channels, but their GOES class is less than C1. -------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Standard Operations 2.1 SXT Table Uploads The following SXT tables were uploaded during week 28: ===================================================== JST Date Pass Table ID ===================================================== Mon 5-JUL-99 2 990705 P2 ARS1 STANDARD Tue 6-JUL-99 3 990706 P3 ARS1 DARK Wed 7-JUL-99 3 990707 P3 ARS1 DIFFUSER Thu 8-JUL-99 2 990708 P2 ARS1 STANDARD Fri 9-JUL-99 3 990709 P3 ARS1 STANDARD Sat 10-JUL-99 3 990710 P3 ARS1 STANDARD ===================================================== Note that the Saterday table is the last table load before the mainframe replacement. 2.2 STT Timer setting STT timer set was done on 6-July-99 Pass 1. Next setting will be done Tuesday, 13-Jul. -------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Special Operations No special operations are held. -------------------------------------------------------------- 4. Errors and Problems 4.1 BCS Errors: A BCS error was found at Pass 1, and then recovered at Pass 2 on 5-July-99. Another BCS error was found by a BCS toban, and we had a recovery at Pass 3 on 7-July-99. 4.2 SXT Errors: A bit map error was found at Pass 1 on 5-July-99, and cleared at the same pass. -------------------------------------------------------------- 5. NASA Station Scheduling 5.1 Contact pass cancels/adds The following DSN/NASA passes were added/deleted: =================================================================== DSN/NASA Schedule Week Schedule Changes =================================================================== Real-time 28 none Final 29 1 cancel by SSOC due to low elevation 1 cancel by Wallops due to unknown reason Preliminary 30 4 add Strawman 31 58 cancel =================================================================== 5.2 Data Transmission from NASA Ground Stations -(From /home/flare1/yohkoh/dsn_corrupt/99_28)--------------- 181 80 2229 not received requested 06-Jul Closed/ correct data 183 80 2117 not received requested 06-Jul Closed/ correct data 183 80 2233 not received requested 06-Jul Closed/ correct data 184 80 2131 corrupted tape requested 06-Jul Closed/ same data 185 80 2327 corrupted tape requested 06-Jul Closed/ correct data 186 80 2134 corrupted tape requested 09-Jul 187 80 2032 corrupted tape requested 09-Jul -------------------------------------------------------------- 6. KSC Pass Conflicts and Schedule In Week 28, 9 KSC contacts lost. In Week 29, 10 KSC contacts lost. 9 for ASCA, 1 for HALCA. Note: For future weeks, it would be nice if Yohkoh could get passes 4 and 5 prior to each weekend operation, and passes 1 and 2 immediately following. This would aid in DSN scheduling. -------------------------------------------------------------- 7. Hikitsugi Items 7.1 Tohbans for week 29 SSOC: K.Ashizawa, T.Sakao(10)/T.Watanabe(16-19) KSC: T.Tonooka, T.Magara 7.2 STT timer setting The next STT TIMER SET is due on pass 3 on 13-Jul-99. 7.3 Holiday Schedule The holiday will be July 18, 1999, Sunday (JST). 7.4 If possible, please schedule terminator opportunities on any weekend table (ie, if room permits). 7.5 KSC pass conflicts (from earlier weeks) ASCA conflicts cause the loss of about 10 KSC contacts per week at this time. We do not know which contacts Yohkoh will lose until the weekly meeting. Santiago contacts occur on the same orbits as KSC contacts. Therefore, keep as many Santiago contacts as possible in the DSN Strawman and Preliminary Forecasts. 7.6 Mainframe Replacement ISAS mainframe will be stopped due to its replacement from 11-Jul(Sun) to 15-Jul(Thu). The OPs during this period have been prepared in advance by the W29 tobans. No SXT table upload is planned during this period. The data downlinked during this period will be stored in SIRIUS after 15-July. 7.7 Command glossary We need a shorthand glossary for common OP and command-sheet commands. This already exists pretty much in the Sakao manual in Japanese, and the Week 26 tohbans started accumulating an English version on "yohkoh.glossary" === END ===
