SSOC Tohban's Report for Week 29 (12-July-99 -- 18-July-99) SSOC: K.Ashizawa, T.Sakao/T.Watanabe KSC: H. Tonooka, T.Magara 0. Meeting Attendance H.Husdon, J.Khan, B.Handy, T.Watanabe, J.Sato, H.Ishizaki, T.Sakao -------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Solar Activity The solar activity was moderate, although several active regions were seen on the disk. No flares bigger than M1 occurred till Friday, but two M-class flares erupted, when NOAA8635 appeared at the east limb. -------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Standard Operations 2.1 SXT Table Uploads The following SXT tables were uploaded during week 29. ===================================================== JST Date Pass Table ID ===================================================== Wed 14-JUL-99 3 990714 P3 ARS1 DARK Thu 15-JUL-99 2 990715 P2 ARS1 DIFFUSER Fri 16-JUL-99 3 990716 P2 ARS1 STANDARD Sat 17-JUL-99 3 990717 P3 ARS1 STANDARD Mon 19-JUL-99 2 990719 P2 ARS1 STANDARD ===================================================== Note that the Wednesday table was the first table upload after the mainframe replacement. 2.2 STT Timer setting STT timer set was done on 13-July-99 Pass 1. Next setting will be done Tuesday, 20-July-99. -------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Special Operations (SSOC Mainframe Replacement) ISAS mainframe replacement successfully took place from 11-Jul (Sun) to 15-Jul (Thu). The OPs during this period were prepared in advance by the W29 tohbans. The first SXT table upload after the replacement was tested on 13-Jul (Wed) and was successful. The KSC downlinked data already appeared in SIRIUS on 14-Jul (Wed). -------------------------------------------------------------- 4. Errors and Problems 4.1 BCS Errors: None 4.2 SXT Errors: None 4.3 Pass number discrepancy Saturday (17th) pass numbers attributed by the op_first_guess routine were different from those given by NASDA. The latter has priority. -------------------------------------------------------------- 5. NASA Station Scheduling 5.1 Contact pass cancels/adds The following DSN/NASA passes were added/deleted: =================================================================== DSN/NASA Schedule Week Schedule Changes =================================================================== Real-time 29 none Final 30 6 cancel by SSOC 1 cancel by Wallops Preliminary 31 7 add Strawman 32 77 cancel =================================================================== 5.2 Data Transmission from NASA Ground Stations -(From /home/flare1/yohkoh/dsn_corrupt/99_29)--------------- 184 80 2131 corrupted tape requested 06-Jul Closed/ same data 185 80 2327 corrupted tape requested 06-Jul Closed/ correct data 186 80 2134 corrupted tape requested 09-Jul Closed/ same data 187 80 2032 corrupted tape requested 09-Jul Closed/ correct data 191 80 2312 not received requested 15-Jul 191 46 1401-1412 : No data - due to Delta/Globalstar launch. 192 80 1820 not received requested 15-Jul -------------------------------------------------------------- 6. KSC Pass Conflicts and Schedule In Week 29, 11 KSC contacts lost. In Week 30, 9 KSC contacts lost. 8 for ASCA, 1 for HALCA. Note: For future weeks, it would be nice if Yohkoh could get passes 4 and 5 prior to each weekend operation, and passes 1 and 2 immediately following. This would aid in DSN scheduling. -------------------------------------------------------------- 7. Hikitsugi Items 7.1 Tohbans for week 30 SSOC: H.Ishizaki, J.Sato KSC: T.Magara, S.Kato 7.2 STT timer setting The next STT TIMER SET is due on pass 2 on 20-Jul-99. 7.3 Holiday Schedule The holiday will be 25-July-1999, Sunday (JST). 7.4 If possible, please schedule terminator opportunities on any weekend table (ie, if room permits). 7.5 KSC pass conflicts (from earlier weeks) ASCA conflicts cause the loss of about 10 KSC contacts per week at this time. We do not know which contacts Yohkoh will lose until the weekly meeting. Santiago contacts occur on the same orbits as KSC contacts. Therefore, keep as many Santiago contacts as possible in the DSN Strawman and Preliminary Forecasts. 7.7 Command glossary We need a shorthand glossary for common OP and command-sheet commands. This already exists pretty much in the Sakao manual in Japanese, and the Week 26 tohbans started accumulating an English version on "yohkoh.glossary" 7.8 Yohkoh's Total Solar Eclipse of 11-Aug-1999 According to Dr. Mitsuru Soma (NAOJ)'s calculation, Yohkoh will be able to see partial eclipses twice this time. The maximum depth of the eclipse was predicted about 55% (sun-moon center distance = 695 arcsec) at 13h6m37s UT. His prediction will be revised, when the latest Yohkoh orbital elements become available prior to the eclipse. === END ===
