SSOC Tohban's Report for Week 32 (02-Aug-99 -- 8-Aug-99) SSOC: M. Akioka, T. Naito KSC: M. Otogawa, K. Yoshimura 0. Meeting Attendance -------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Solar Activity This week, the solar activity was high. NOAA 8847 produced X1.4/1B flare and many M and C class flares occurred mainly at 8847 and 8649. NOAA8649 has already gone away and 8647 will soon behind the limb. In 1-7 Aug, 1 X class and 9 M class flare occurred. -------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Standard Operations 2.1 SXT Table Uploads The following SXT tables were uploaded during week 32. ===================================================== JST Date Pass Table ID ===================================================== 02-Aug-99 (Mon) 1 990802 P1 ARS1 DARK 02-Aug-99 (Mon) 5 990802 P4 ARS1 DIFF 03-Aug-99 (Tue) 3 990803 P3 ARS1 STD 04-Aug-99 (Wed) 2 990804 P1 ARS1 ECL_TEST 04-Aug-99 (Wed) 5 990804 P5 ARS1 STD 05-Aug-99 (Thu) 3 990805 P4 ARS1 STD 06-Aug-99 (Fri) 2 990806 P2 ARS1 STD 07-Aug-99 (Sat) 3 990807 P3 ARS1 STD ===================================================== 2.2 STT Timer setting STT timer was set in Pass 2 of 02-Aug-99. The next Timer Set should be on Tuesday, 10-Aug-99 (UT). -------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Special Operations 3.1 HXT Calibrations We carried out regular HXT calibrations (once in every 1.5 months) as follows: ===================================================== Pass ID UT Date Pass ===================================================== 990805-1134 05-Aug (Thu) 01:55 1 HXT CAL 990806-1031 06-Aug (Fri) 00:27 1 HXT CAL 990807-0928 07-Aug (Sat) 22:59 1 HXT CAL ===================================================== -------------------------------------------------------------- 4. Errors and Problems 4.1 BCS Error None 4.2 SXT Error An SXT error (FIL ST) was found in 3rd pass on 02 Aug. The error was recovered in next pass (4th pass on 02 Aug). Due to the error, SXT table planned for pass 4 was uploaded in pass 5. -------------------------------------------------------------- 5. NASA Station Scheduling 5.1 Contact pass cancels/additions The following DSN/NASA passes were added/deleted: =================================================================== DSN/NASA Schedule Week Schedule Changes =================================================================== Real-time 32 2 cancellation by SSOC Final 33 15 cancellations by SSOC Preliminary 34 1 cancellation by SSOC Strawman 35 still pending because of Seko-san's holiday =================================================================== 5.2 Data Transmission from NASA Ground Stations -(From /home/flare1/yohkoh/dsn_corrupt/99_31)--------------- 201 80 1524 corrupted tape requested 26-Jul Closed/ correct data 201 80 1706 corrupted tape requested 26-Jul Closed/ correct data 201 80 1849 corrupted tape requested 26-Jul Closed/ correct data 202 74 2239 corrupted tape requested 26-Jul Closed/ same data 209 82 1523 corrupted tape requested 28-Jul 210 74 1408 corrupted tape requested 28-Jul -------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------- 6. KSC Pass Conflicts and Schedule In Week 32, 11 KSC contacts were lost, 4 for Akebono, 7 for Aska. In Week 33, 13 KSC contacts will be lost, 6 for Akebono, 7 for Aska. Note: For future weeks, it would be nice if Yohkoh could get passes 4 and 5 prior to each weekend operation, and passes 1 and 2 immediately following. This would aid in DSN scheduling. -------------------------------------------------------------- 7. Hikitsugi Items 7.1 Tohbans for week 32 SSOC: K. Marubashi, T. Sakurai(ex.11) KSC: K. Hori, M. Otogawa, K. Yoshimura(-10) 7.2 STT timer setting The next STT TIMER SET is due on 10-Aug-99 (UT). 7.3 Holiday Schedule Next Yohkoh holiday will be Sunday, 15-Aug-99 (UT). 7.4 HXT CAL HXT CALs is planned at 10, 11 Aug.. Details will be instructed by Sawa san. 7.5 KSC pass reservation for eclipse observations This week's Thursday meeting for KSC operation schedle, the first three KSC passes on August 11 (11:35, 13:15 and 15:00 UT on that day) are allocated to Yohkoh for eclipse observations. 7.6 If possible, please schedule terminator opportunities on any weekend table (ie, if room permits). (from previous tohbans) 7.7 KSC pass conflicts (from previous tohbans) ASCA conflicts cause the loss of about 10 KSC contacts per week at this time. We do not know which contacts Yohkoh will lose until the weekly meeting. Santiago contacts occur on the same orbits as KSC contacts. Therefore, keep as many Santiago contacts as possible in the DSN Strawman and Preliminary Forecasts. 7.8 Command glossary (from previous tohbans) We need a shorthand glossary for common OP and command-sheet commands. This already exists pretty much in the Sakao manual in Japanese, and the Week 26 tohbans started accumulating an English version on "yohkoh.glossary" 7.9 Yohkoh's Total Solar Eclipse of 11-Aug-1999 (from previous Tohbans) According to Dr. Mitsuru Soma (NAOJ)'s calculation, Yohkoh will be able to see partial eclipses twice this time. The maximum depth of the eclipse was predicted about 55% (sun-moon center distance = 695 arcsec) at 13h6m37s UT. His prediction will be revised, when the latest Yohkoh orbital elements become available prior to the eclipse. === END ===
