SSOC Tohban's Report for Week 33 (09-Aug-99 -- 15-Aug-99) SSOC: T.Sakurai (except 11), K.Marubashi (9,10,14), S.Watari (11-13) R.Kano (SXT eclipse operation) KSC: K.Hori, M.Otogawa 0. Meeting Attendance H.S.Hudson, T.Kosugi, T.Sakurai, M.Sawa, T.Watanabe, T.Yokoyama -------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Solar Activity The activity level of the sun in this week is low, with only C-class or smaller flares. -------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Standard Operations 2.1 SXT Table Uploads The following SXT tables were uploaded during week 33. ===================================================== JST Date Pass Table ID ===================================================== 9-AUG-99 19:36 5 990809 P5 ARS1 DARK* 10-AUG-99 16:24 3 990810 P3 ARS1 ECL1* 11-AUG-99 11:32 1 990811 P1 ARS0 ECL2 11-AUG-99 13:13 2 990811 P2 ARS1 DIFF 12-AUG-99 11:46 1 990812 P1 ARS1 STD 13-AUG-99 17:07 4 990813 P4 ARS1 STD* 14-AUG-99 12:13 2 990814 P2 ARS1 STD postponed to pass 5 ===================================================== 2.2 STT Timer setting STT timer was set in Pass 3 of 10-Aug-99. The next Timer Set should be on Tuesday, 17-Aug-99 (UT). -------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Special Operations 3.1 Eclipse The total eclipse was seen in regions from Europe through India on August 11. Yohkoh SXT observed two sequences of partial eclipse. The following operations have been done. August 10 Pass-2: OP+OG Write for the eclipse Pass-3: SXT Table Write for eclipse-1 August 11 08:50-09:03 partial eclipse-1 observed by Yohkoh Pass-1: SXT Table Write for eclipse-2 12:50-13:11 partial eclipse-2 observed by Yohkoh Pass-2: OP Write for the normal operation 3.2 HXT Gain Adjustment and Calibrations The fine gain adjustment was done on Aug-09, Pass-1. The HXT calibrations were carried out as follows. The originally-planned dates were Aug 10,11,13, but both SSOC and KSC tohbans forgot to include the commands for Aug-11 operation. This must have caused a reduction in time of HXT calibration for this week. ===================================================== Pass ID UT Date Pass ===================================================== 990810-0930 10-Aug (Tue) 14:42 2 HXT CAL 990813-1031 13-Aug (Fri) 15:25 3 HXT CAL 990814-1135 14-Aug (Sat) 17:22 5 HXT CAL ===================================================== -------------------------------------------------------------- 4. Thunderstorm coused the 9 meter encoder to fault and antenna ran into a limit. -------------------------------------------------------------- 6. KSC Pass Conflicts and Schedule In Week 33, 13 KSC contacts were lost, 6 for Akebono, 7 for ASCA. In Week 34, 14 KSC contacts will be lost, 5 for Akebono, 9 for ASCA. Note: For future weeks, it would be nice if Yohkoh could get passes 4 and 5 prior to each weekend operation, and passes 1 and 2 immediately following. This would aid in DSN scheduling. -------------------------------------------------------------- 7. Hikitsugi Items 7.1 Tohbans for week 34 SSOC: T.Yokoyama, A.Sterling KSC: K.Hori, S.Fujimaki 7.2 STT timer setting The next STT TIMER SET is due on 17-Aug-99 (UT). 7.3 Holiday Schedule Next Yohkoh holiday will be Sunday, 22-Aug-99 (UT). 7.4 Software problems pr_gev with /hc keyword produces a temporary output file but does not print it at the printer. 7.5 If possible, please schedule terminator opportunities on any weekend table (ie, if room permits). (from previous tohbans) 7.6 KSC pass conflicts (from previous tohbans) ASCA conflicts cause the loss of about 10 KSC contacts per week at this time. We do not know which contacts Yohkoh will lose until the weekly meeting. Santiago contacts occur on the same orbits as KSC contacts. Therefore, keep as many Santiago contacts as possible in the DSN Strawman and Preliminary Forecasts. 7.7 Command glossary (from previous tohbans) We need a shorthand glossary for common OP and command-sheet commands. This already exists pretty much in the Sakao manual in Japanese, and the Week 26 tohbans started accumulating an English version on "yohkoh.glossary" === END ===
