SXT CHIEF OBSERVER REPORT AND TABLE PLAN 26 December 1994 N. Nitta SXT TABLE PLAN FOR (26 December - 28 December 1994) There are of course no coordinated campaigns this week. No offpoint observing is planned for this week. In light of no terminator images available before KSC shuts down on the 28th, I plan only two table uploads. - Dark Calibration on Monday - Standard ARS1 table on Tuesday The SXT Table plan for the week is as follows: KSC Time (start) in JST Pass Table ID Comments (= UT + 9 hrs) # Monday (12/26) 10:50 2 941226 P2 DARKCAL Tuesday (12/27) 11:10 2 941227 P2 TUESDAY ------------------------------------------------------- BRIEF SXT CHIEF OBSERVER'S REPORT for 19-Dec-94 to 25-Dec-94 SXT INSTRUMENT STATUS No operational problems with SXT. YOHKOH POINTING The standard Yohkoh pointing was changed on 21 December, and presently it is ~(540, 575) in SXT CCD coordinates, i.e. the Sun got moved to SW. Contrary to Loren's predictions, we can still use three limbs for pointing solutions. In fact the number of available limbs had been 3 even before re-pointing. A terminator image taken at the new pointing has been processed and incorporated in the SFC database. Correction of the new images using this calibration image seems to be quite satisfactory so far, but the satellite pointing does change with time, so we will continue to take terminator images. I tried to correct a thin aluminum image taken during the first SPARTAN flight using a terminator image that was newly obtained this month, but the pinholes were readily visible because the terminator was displaced from the image of interest by a couple of pixels. We are still estimating how close a terminator should be to the image that is to be corrected. PERSONNEL L. Acton departed on the 22nd after an extremely rewarding work on calibration, which science-only people should greatly acknowledge. N. Nitta is taking over as SXT Chief Observer. Early next year, J. Lemen and G. Slater will come back.
