SXT CHIEF OBSERVER REPORT AND TABLE PLAN

                       SXT TABLE PLAN FOR WEEK 14
                        (2 Apr - 8 Apr 1995 JST)

   There are no coordinated campaigns planned for this week. The observing
objectives of this plan are:
   - Standard observing table for most of the week.
   - Dark Calibration on Wednesday.
   - Continuation of terminator-offpointing campaign.

This SXT Table Plan was prepared by Mark Weber for Lemen san. Therefore,
it is VERY likely that some changes will be made to the plan during the
week. Tohbans should be alert for faxes from the new Chief Observer. The
SXT Table Plan for the week is as follows:

Terminator-Offpointing:
   The terminator-offpointing endeavor will continue this week. The SSOC
tohbans will be required to manually insert the terminator commands for
the OP tables. Hudson san can instruct the new tohbans as to handling
offpoints. Filter selection can be done by the Chief Observer in the SXT
Tables.

SXT INSTRUMENT STATUS
  The SXT instrument is in fine working order.

CAMPAIGNS

  TERMINATOR OFFPOINTING CAMPAIGN
   Not much progress was made in building the terminator database this
week. However, Hudson san and Chief Observer Weber had more fruitful
discussions about the campaign, and their understanding has increased.
Some e-mail correspondence with Lemen san has (hopefully) prepared him
for the current state of the project. We expect much more progress to be
made while he is Chief Observer this month.

   NO OTHER CAMPAIGNS IN W13.

CONTINUING CONCERNS

   OP_FIRST_GUESS:
   It is important to the terminator offpointing campaign that
OP_FIRST_GUESS be run for Week+1 by the SSOC tohbans when the orbital
elements arrive. This was not done during this most recent week, so the
Table Plan for this week is tentative. The SXT Chief Observer needs
files produced by this program in order to prepare the SXT Table Plan
for Week+1. The Chief Observer suggests that the Tohban Checksheet and
Manual be updated to include this responsibilty. 
   An alternative suggested by Freeland san would be to automate this
job. Either method is acceptable to this Chief Observer, as long as it
is implemented relatively soon (i.e. in the next week or so).
