15 June 1996 Mark Weber SXT CHIEF OBSERVER REPORT AND TABLE PLAN SXT CHIEF OBSERVER'S REPORT for Week 24: 10-JUN-96 to 16-JUN-96 SOLAR ACTIVITY The presence of NOAA AR 7968 served to keep the X-ray flux from the sun at around A-level. With the disappearance of the AR around the west limb this weekend, solar activity has dropped even more. SXT INSTRUMENT STATUS The SXT performed smoothly this week and is operating well. CAMPAIGNS From 2-June to 10-June, we were running a campaign with Meudon and SoHO/SUMER,CDS (correspondent Brigitte Schmieder) to observe (1) prom- inences and filaments, and (2) chromospheric activity and coronal loops. On June 10 (Monday), we observed AR 7968 with fixed pointing for a few hours, before returning to the current standard table. The SXT CO forgot to set the observing target for the Quiet/Med mode, which was invoked during SAA traversals, so some images missed the target region. However, many more excellent pictures were taken of the AR during the Qt/High mode. We hope to hear many good results from the other observers. SEMINARS There was no Yohkoh seminar this week. SXT TABLE PLAN FOR WEEK 25 (17-Jun-96 to 23-Jun-96) There are no coordinated campaigns scheduled for Week 25, as of yet. A dark calibration table will be loaded on Tuesday, and a diffuser table on Thursday, unless opportunities suggest otherwise. The table plan may be altered to coordinate with SoHO targets if we can be of assistance. SSOC TOHBAN, please fax the preliminary OP list to D-tou when it contains a terminator so that the Chief Observer can suggest which OG's to use.
