22 June 1996 Mark Weber/Serge Savy SXT CHIEF OBSERVER REPORT AND TABLE PLAN SXT CHIEF OBSERVER'S REPORT for Week 25: 17-JUN-96 to 23-JUN-96 SOLAR ACTIVITY During this week, we watched NOAA ARs 7972 and 7973 appear over the east limb, making things relatively more exciting than they have been for a while. In particular, AR 7973 has an interesting structure described as an "anemone" by the KSC tohbans. X-ray flux as measured by GOES continues to hang at around A-level, while the middle of the week saw several attempts by the current active regions to flare past B-level. Two attempts (17-Jun and 20-Jun) were barely successful. At the end of the weekend, there were two more notable events, at B-level and >~ B.3-level. As seems to be typical, this activity ocurred on Sunday (23-June) _after_ the CO report was first drafted. SXT INSTRUMENT STATUS The SXT performed smoothly this week and is operating well. CAMPAIGNS There were no campaigns during Week 25. SEMINARS On Thursday, June 20, Dr Suematsu of NAO discussed "Horseshoe-Shaped H-alpha Flares On 13 October 1995". SXT TABLE PLAN FOR WEEK 26 (24-Jun-96 to 30-Jun-96) No coordinated campaigns are currently scheduled for this week. SSOC TOHBAN, please fax the preliminary OP list to D-tou when it contains a terminator so that the Chief Observer can suggest which OG's to use.
