2 January 1997 H Hudson SXT CHIEF OBSERVER'S REPORT AND TABLE PLAN CHIEF OBSERVER'S REPORT for Weeks 1-2 4-Jan-97 to 12-Jan-97 SOLAR ACTIVITY Well, we've been on holiday and the biggest flare has been in the A range. There have also been no Bearalerts nor messages from Joe Gurman exulting about wonderful CMEs, so it may have been the right time to have a holiday. Recent SOHO images show a high-latitude region coming onto the disk in the SE quadrant. SXT INSTRUMENT STATUS The SXT instrument probably remains in fine working condition, but we won't know until Sunday. CAMPAIGNS There were no campaigns or coordinated observations in this reporting period. SEMINARS There were no Yohkoh seminars. But the Cirque du Soleil was on TV in Japan - a great act from Quebec, catch it in person or on the tube if you can. SXT TABLE PLAN FOR WEEKS 1-2 (4-Jan-97 to 12-Jan-97) There are no formal campaigns that we know about yet for the near term in 1997. The dark-calibration table will be loaded on Saturday night (Jan. 4), as soon as we confirm that things are OK, and we will plan to do the quarterly bakeout as soon as feasible after that. KSC Time (start) in JST Pass Table ID _____________(= UT + 9 hrs)______#_______________________________ Thursday 4-JAN-97 20:26 3 970402 P3 ARS1 DARKCAL TBD... *** Please note that this table plan may change during the week. *** Continuing requests: We request that KSC tohbans continue to dump a patrol image each time an SXT table is loaded to facilitate the study of optimizing ARS parameters during quiet times. SSOC TOHBAN, please e-mail any terminator schedule to the chief observer (sxt_co@isass0) so that he can decide about filters and offpoints.
