4 January 1997 H Hudson SXT CHIEF OBSERVER'S REPORT AND TABLE PLAN CHIEF OBSERVER'S REPORT for Weeks 1-2 4-Jan-97 to 12-Jan-97 SOLAR ACTIVITY At the beginning of 1997, solar activity is low. There is one high-latitude active region in the southern hemisphere. SXT INSTRUMENT STATUS SXT emerged from the long New Year's holiday functioning properly. CAMPAIGNS There were no campaigns or coordinated observations in this reporting period. SEMINARS There were no Yohkoh seminars. But the Cirque du Soleil was on TV in Japan - a great act from Quebec, catch it in person or on the tube if you can. PLAN for week 2 Acton has sent email suggesting a week-long bakeout. A bakeout was planned anyway, and activity is low, so this is probably a good time to go ahead. Please refer to October 9, 1996, or thereabouts, for the previous example of power control commands in the real-time operations. SXT TABLE PLAN FOR WEEKS 1-2 (4-Jan-97 to 12-Jan-97) There are no formal campaigns that we know about yet for the near term in 1997. The dark-calibration table will be loaded on Saturday night (Jan. 4), as soon as we confirm that things are OK, and we will put up a test table for the long bakeout on Sunday night.
