19 January 1997 Serge Savy SXT CHIEF OBSERVER'S REPORT AND TABLE PLAN CHIEF OBSERVER'S REPORT for Week 03 13-Jan-97 to 19-Jan-97 SOLAR ACTIVITY The Sun was very quiet last week with only a few small regions visible. There was one B-class flare on 16 January. SXT INSTRUMENT STATUS The SXT instrument remains in fine working order. CAMPAIGNS Last week there was a campaign to observe streamers in collaboration with the SoHO spacecraft. For this campaign Yohkoh was offpointed 5' East from 17 to 19 January, and then 5' West on the 19th (until the 22nd) and a long exposure FFI table was uploaded. The bases of streamers were clearly observed with this table. The long CCD bakeout ended on successfully 14 January, and it appears that SXT images are cleaner following the bakeout. SEMINARS There were no Yohkoh seminars in Week 3. SXT TABLE PLAN FOR WEEK 04 (19-Jan-97 to 26-Jan-97) This week we are continuing with the streamers campaign in collaboration with SoHO. Yohkoh was offpointed 5' West on 19 January for this campaign and we will return to normal pointing at the end of the campaign on 22 January. No other campaigns this week. The dark calibration table will be uploaded on Wednesday, and the weekly diffusers included as part of a standard table on Friday.
