21 November 1999 N. Nitta H. Hudson CHIEF OBSERVER'S REPORT for Week 47 14-Nov-99 to 20-Nov-99 GENERAL Solar activity, as indicated by the GOES background, decreased until the weekend, when major flares started to occur again. A transit of Mercury was observed for the second time. SXT TECHNICAL The instrument remained in fine working order, except that one of the flares was not centered in partial frame images. See http://isass1.solar.isas.ac.jp/sxt_co/991119/ars_991114.html for a preliminary report. For Web material see Current Week: http://isass1.solar.isas.ac.jp/sxt_co/991119.html Index: http://isass1.solar.isas.ac.jp/sxt_co/index.html This week's science nugget dealt with another eruptive flare which consists of loops with downward motions.
