January 29, 2000 D. McKenzie CHIEF OBSERVER'S REPORT for Week 05 24-Jan-00 through 28-Jan-00 GENERAL Activity dropped, the background staying in the mid-'B' level most of the week. Several C flares were observed, but no M flares. SXT TECHNICAL The CCD streak artifact reported last week continued to fade away. It was still visible at the end of the week, but diminished in intensity. Some Y2K bugs were found in the analysis software, and the appropriate people are working on them now. We do not intend to make more than one upload per day. There are no campaigns planned for this week. Saturday is a Yohkoh holiday. KSC Tohbans: In general flare mode supersedes table upload, i.e. if a flare is in progress please do not upload a new table, and contact the chief observer. Normally it is OK to go ahead with the planned table without change on the next pass, if it is available. Chief observers should keep an eye on this.
