CHIEF OBSERVER'S REPORT for Week 34 14-Aug-00 through 19-Aug-00 L.Fletcher, H. Hudson GENERAL Activity again very low - only C-class events occurred, very few of them above C5. The return of the `active longitudes' proved disapppointing, and baseline activity was at C-level the entire week, dropping well below C from the 16th. SXT TECHNICAL The instrument had no problems this week. A problem occurred in the data reformatting pipeline, resulting in the temporary loss of SFDs, and attendant planning/instrument monitoring headaches. However, this was speedily rectified. Also, a problem occurred with the table transfer on 16-Aug-00, due to the attempted transfer of a table from D-toh during a computer reset at KSC. This seems to have highlighted the need for extra checks on the transfer process, which should be discussed today. CAMPAIGNS SXT participated in Max Millennium #10 along with TRACE and MDI. The campaign aims to observe large-scale wave-like responses to flares, however there were no decent flares.
