The Sun produced seven M flares, including a large M7 proton event, before quickly retreating beneath "C" level. SXT TECHNICAL No new problems this week. Pointing and roll appeared to remain stable. The normal pointing was updated on 9-Nov-00. CAMPAIGNS The MEOC campaign began this week, to look for EIT-type waves. This campaign will continue until December 8. In week 47, the active region heating campaign of Shimizu & Kubo, with ASP, will begin on Tuesday. This campaign will continue until 22-Nov. SEMINARS * An informal seminar was given by Y. Katsukawa on Wednesday, for the discussion of nanoflares and small intensity fluctuations measured by SXT. * On Thursday, a seminar was given by S. Pohjolainen, on "Signatures of shock waves associated with the May 2, 1998 Coronal Mass Ejection". Multiwavelength look at dimmings, plasma motions, TIL disappearance. * Also on Thursday, a seminar was given by K. Shibasaki, on "Prominence eruption and particle acceleration". A scenario was presented for the prominence eruption of 20-Oct-99. KSC Tohbans: In general flare mode supersedes table upload, i.e. if a flare is in progress please do not upload a new table, and contact the chief observer. Normally it is OK to go ahead with the planned table without change on the next pass, if it is available. Chief observers should keep an eye on this.
