CHIEF OBSERVER'S REPORT for Week 5 29-Jan-01 through 4-Feb-01 A. Takeda GENERAL The GOES backgound has been less than C-level in most days during the week. 2 M-class flares are reported on AR 9313(M1.5, 28-Jan) and 9334(M2.R4 2-Feb), for both of which Yohkoh missed the significant portion of their light curves due to S/C nights and SAAs. SXT TECHNICAL No serious errors. SXT SCIENTIFIC For Web material see the science nuggets: Current Week: http://isass1.solar.isas.ac.jp/sxt_co/010202.html Index: http://isass1.solar.isas.ac.jp/sxt_co/index.html The newest nugget(by AkT) entitled "A Dark 'S' Erupted!" describes a large S-shaped H alpha filament, which can be seen on the disk during the week 4 and erupted on 26-Jan acompanied by a CME. CAMPAIGNS No campaigns during the interval and none planned at present. We remain on the alert for sigmoids as a "target-of-opportunity". We are reconsidering the way to take super-long-exposure (30s) images in the period of solar maximum. These images are used for an XBP research for years. We will upload two tables a day, again this week. ________________________________#_______________________________ JST Day UT Start Time Pass Table ID Saturday AM 2-FEB-01 15:59 1 010202 P1 ARS1 STD+XBP* Saturday AM 2-FEB-01 21:04 4 010202 P4 ARS1 STD* Monday AM 4-FEB-01 17:46 2 010204 P2 ARS1 STD* Monday PM 5-FEB-01 14:26 1 010205 P1 ARS1 STD+XBP Tuesday AM 5-FEB-01 19:32 4 010205 P4 ARS1 STD* Tuesday PM 6-FEB-01 14:29 1 010206 P1 ARS1 DIFF+XBP Wednesday AM 6-FEB-01 19:35 4 010206 P4 ARS1 STD* Wednesday PM 7-FEB-01 14:32 2 010207 P2 ARS1 DARK Thursday AM 7-FEB-01 17:56 4 010207 P4 ARS1 STD* Thursday PM 8-FEB-01 12:54 1 010208 P1 ARS1 STD+XBP Friday AM 8-FEB-01 16:17 3 010208 P3 ARS1 STD* Friday PM 9-FEB-01 12:56 1 010209 P1 ARS1 STD+XBP Saturday AM 9-FEB-01 16:20 3 010209 P3 ARS1 STD* Saturday PM 10-FEB-01 11:19 1 010210 P1 ARS1 STD+XBP Saturday PM 10-FEB-01 14:41 3 010210 P3 ARS1 STD The date-part of a table ID reflects the UT date of the pass 1. Continuing requests: KSC & SSOC Tohbans: If any KSC passes are likely to be cancelled (for example due to typhoons) or an SXT table cannot be uploaded for any reason, please telephone and e-mail the Chief Observer immediately. (sxt_co@isass0.solar.isas.ac.jp, copy to sxt_st@flare2.solar.isas.ac.jp). KSC Tohbans: In general flare mode supersedes table upload, i.e. if a flare is in progress please do not upload a new table, and contact the chief observer. Normally it is OK to go ahead with the planned table without change on the next pass, if it is available. Chief observers should keep an eye on this.
