CHIEF OBSERVER'S REPORT for Week 10

GENERAL 

Flare activity increased as well as the GOES background level.
There was a nice disk coronal hole early in the week.

SXT TECHNICAL 

No problem this week.

The newest nugget, "CME and an impulsive flare", shows a quick 
analysis of a short-lived flare (M7) that occurred on 10-Mar-01.
The compact flare seemed to be due to small parasitic polarity 
embedded in the following polarity part of AR 9368.

CAMPAIGNS 

We continued to observe the targets of JOP 137 (AR 9371) and 
JOP 138 (AR 9368).

KSC & SSOC Tohbans: If any KSC passes are likely to be cancelled (for
example due to typhoons) or an SXT table cannot be uploaded for any 
reason, please telephone and e-mail the Chief Observer immediately.
(sxt_co@isass0.solar.isas.ac.jp, copy to sxt_st@flare2.solar.isas.ac.jp).

KSC Tohbans: In general flare mode supersedes table upload, i.e. if a
flare is in progress please do not upload a new table, and contact the
chief observer. Normally it is OK to go ahead with the planned table
without change on the next pass, if it is available. Chief observers
should keep an eye on this.
