CHIEF OBSERVER'S REPORT for Week 45

GENERAL 

Flare activity was high, possibly subsiding at the end of the week.
with 25 (!) M-class flares but no X-class ones (!).

SXT TECHNICAL 

No new problems to report. We resumed experimentation with 2x2 flare mode
in an effort to see large-scale faint things.

The nugget this week is about the remarkable flare and particle event
of November 4, which we observed quite well. The nugget lists many novel
or semi-novel features of this event.

CAMPAIGNS 

No official campaigns were planned to support. We ended the sigmoid
campaign when the region (9684) reached the limb and became confused.

asterisk means that the ID's date number differs from the upload date.
This table plan is likely to change. Prepare for last minute changes,
even with naming conventions.

Continuing requests:

KSC & SSOC Tohbans: If any KSC passes are likely to be cancelled (for
example due to typhoons) or an SXT table cannot be uploaded for any 
reason, please telephone and e-mail the Chief Observer immediately.
(sxt_co@isass0.solar.isas.ac.jp, copy to sxt_st@flare2.solar.isas.ac.jp).

KSC Tohbans: In general flare mode supersedes table upload, i.e. if a
flare is in progress please do not upload a new table, and contact the
chief observer. Normally it is OK to go ahead with the planned table
without change on the next pass, if it is available. Chief observers
should keep an eye on this.
